Your ears are a very important asset to situational awareness! We hear all the time. Even when we’re sleeping our subconscious still listens. During the daytime as we go about our daily work, routines, and activities, our ears send ‘input’ to our brain. Even when we’re not ‘listening’ we’re still …

Self-defense is a fundamental human right. I’m not willing to relinquish that right, no matter how many tragedies occur in this crazy world. No many how many wicked or insane persons use guns to do evil, I will assert my … Continue reading →

M.D. Creekmore’s TheSurvivalistBlog has an interesting backstory that makes it unique in the blogosphere. M.D. left the rat-race, bought two acres of land off grid for $2,000 and parked a 26 foot travel trailer on it where he lives full-time. Since M.D. lives what he writes, his articles provide many insights and advice that are rarely found in other survival blogs.

So answering your question – yes, life is a survival for all but not its purpose. Survival is just a part of your life and it depends how big pie it could be of your cake of life. If you choose to be happy like the first sort of people I have described above, life would be less of survival and suffering and would be more beautiful and pleasurable. Have a beautiful purpose in life then life’s purpose wouldn’t be survival.

You order stuff, and they never ship you the product. I am still waiting for the crossbow that I ordered 6 months ago. Also, their customer service is useless and unhelpful. After 3 months of waiting for my first order, they decided to cancel my order without my permission. Then the company sent me an email to order the same crossbow on November 21st, and now again I still do not have my order, and they can’t tell me when I will receive it.

I use my chromebook to store a few survival docs, topographic maps and personal data on it and charge it on the move using external power pack or a solar phone charger (it uses micro usb which is just awesome). IMO it rocks but I can understand your reservations.

We’ve thought about doing a bug out bag guide so many times before it’d be impossible to count, but somehow in 4 years, still haven’t actually published one. The why comes down to the fact that, unlike comprehensive lists – like of all…

I don’t think the world has seen this phenomenon yet: a major war, during which both sides use severe repeated hacking attacks on the general computing infrastructure in each nation. But it is inevitable. Every developed nation is highly computerized, … Continue reading →

In both, Brave New World and 1984, common themes are addressed including government, orthodoxy, social hierarchy, economics, love, sex, and power. Both books portray propaganda as a necessary tool of government to shape the collective minds of the citizenry within each respective society and towards the specific goals of the state; to wit, stability and continuity.

Fernando “Ferfal” Aguirre is unique in the sense that he has lived it (and is still living it). Easily pulling in our number 8 spot, Surviving in Argentina is about one man’s experience in a post economic-collapsed country and he has had to adapt to the challenges and changes that came about. His insights provide a great model whereby many North Americans (and Europeans) can prepare for an impending economic collapse on their own soil.

Censoring / Censored observation: If a subject does not have an event during the observation time, they are described as censored. The subject is censored in the sense that nothing is observed or known about that subject after the time of censoring. A censored subject may or may not have an event after the end of observation time.

Hunting, fishing, and trapping are also significant endeavors, ones that take much time and practice. These are also skills that are often times unnecessary in a short term survival situation. However if you are in a wilderness survival situation for any length of time, you’ll want these skills. Throwing sticks, bow and arrow, primitive fishing, spear fishing, and primitive trapping are all important to learn.

Dissimilarly to the British, the Nazis exemplify the power that propaganda possesses. Arguably more successful, due to their propaganda methods providing the platform for the regime’s assent and continued control of the nation,[4] the Nazi’s incorporation of education into their propaganda apparatus and their superior use of symbols constituted for a more persistent outcome.

Survival fire starters can be an incredibly important tool out in the wilderness, which is why it is vital that you include several of them in any emergency kit you plan to use in the outdoors…(read more)

You’re much less likely to need the heat generation survival gear if you live in a desert state or a place that typically does not get cooler weather. That being said, this type of gear can still be helpful in case of climate change or especially cold nights.

Recently some challenges have been threatening the fabric of our community. Increased vandalism, conflicts between neighboring camps, and matter out of place (MOOP), and participants showing up not prepared to live in a harsh desert environment or expecting to simply consume what BRC has to offer.

I think I saw a line item for a Generator. I would like to add a few tid-bits if you are leaning that way. Don’t rush out after a large emergency and trying to get one (the unit or it and it installed). I would suggest a package that incorporates the off-the-grid craze ie solar and/or wind with the typical back-up power system. (Mainly for the Batteries)… IMO A proper system. First, it should be large enough to supply all of your electrical needs. (NOT WANTS). Second, it would be a multi-fuel; and multi-source system. If you just purchased an Electrical generator off the shelf. It has a really small fuel reservoir, and most runs on only one type of fuel. Gasoline.
