A center draft oil lamp, or a regular oil lamp, or an old fashioned kerosene lantern are good things to have as well. They can double as small heaters in the right areas. With the center draft lamp you can use two types of fuel, either kerosene or low odor mineral spirits, but they can be a bit pricey and they are on the fragile side of the spectrum. If you get a center draft lamp, always remember: as with modern Coleman lanterns, Never store a lantern or center draft lamp with fuel in it, after awhile they gum up inside and can ruin the lamp.
The day I quit I went through the company shaking hands and saying good-bye to all 30 of my colleagues letting them know why I resigned. Then I walked four blocks up Fifth Avenue and started my new, even more inspiring job.
The power has gone out in your home, meaning the food in your fridge and freezer might be subject to spoilage. Most foods remain just fine so long as the outage does not last more than four hours and you are not constantly opening and shutting the appliance. If you are not sure what to keep and what to throw out followin… Continue Reading →
I too am using Home Depot orange buckets. Very good sealing gasketed lids and the price is right. I contacted the manufacturer and they assured me they are not food grade. My bags and oxygen absorbers arrive tomorrow, and it begins…..
There are many different situations that could lead to a survival scenario, and any of them could happen to you. It’s not always the extreme skier that’s gone off course or the trail runner that’s been injured in the middle of the wilderness. Your vacation tour group may have accidentally left you behind. Or maybe your car has simply run out of gas on a desolate stretch of wintery road. The question isn’t whether you could find yourself alone or stranded in a potentially life-threatening situation. It’s whether you’d be equipped to deal with it.
You’ve heard “Be Fruitful and Multiply”, but in the early aftermath of a major long-term disaster, getting your women pregnant and having babies might be problematic when your garden isn’t doing so well and you need every person at 110% effic…

When you choose a sleeping bag rated for cold weather, sleeping bags filled with goose down are lightest — but they come with a consequence. If your bag gets wet it loses all insulating properties. A single tear can cause down to spill out. Your best bet is to get a down sleeping bag with a Gortex liner, to protect from moisture. But the price for Goretex down bags with a high rating can be steep — which can climb to $500 or more.

Let’s take a closer look at the cause, symptoms and treatment for this potentially-fatal condition. How it Occurs Certain female, egg-laying ticks produce …

Survival Guide provides a solid grounding in the business of photography – including branding, marketing, and the dirty little secret in photography – pricing. But it’s also a workshop that doesn’t neglect the creative aspect of photography. Instead, it encourages you to think of yourself in new ways as a working photographer. It encourages you to refine your vision, both in how you make photographs, and how you market them.
This is a life saver in many situations where you’re caught in really cold weather and you’ve got no means of starting a fire. Simply stuff newspaper, dry grass, and leaves under your clothes and you’ll be retaining significant amounts of body heat when you need it the most. You can do this to almost all of your clothing, from head to toe.
High quality, durable blade. Very convenient and discreet. Fits in any credit card slot. This knife is for when you need to do something in a pinch, not heavy duty work. Very pleased with my purchase!
It is now 2018. I have owned the SentrySafe pistol biometric gun safe (actually 3 of them) for nearly 5 years. I’m still of the opinion that they may be the best general purpose pistol biometric gun safe available. I feel compelled to let you know why I still believe …

You can find a lot of animal products in the wilderness. Animal bones and feces are scattered all over the jungle floor. You can use some of these items to your advantage. Here are some tips on how to utilize these.
The log-rank test compares the survival times of two or more groups. This example uses a log-rank test for a difference in survival in the maintained versus non-maintained treatment groups in the aml data. The graph shows KM plots for the aml data broken out by treatment group, which is indicated by the variable x in the data.

Wilderness survival sometimes calls for being found — that includes in a time of collapse as well. Perhaps you’ve put together a camp in a remote location. Whatever circumstances take place where you’re now cooperating with other people for survival, tasks related to hunting, scouting, and scavenging can mean you have to split off from the group at times.
I ordered the free knife knowing going in that is was just a lure to get you to buy something else. When I saw the offer for a second free knife, I knew that is was a catch. If you bother to read anything else, it tells you that you are also going to be in their club and there was a monthly fee. I clicked on no thanks and got my free knife with no problems, and it is good for what it is.

I am not saying that everyone must go through a military style survival training (although you totally could, if you like!), you must know some basic survival tips and tricks. These tips and tricks can be the difference between life and death. So, yeah, they are more important than knowing what happens in the next episode of your favorite show!
WOW. I’m floored by how quickly my limited Patreon tiers sold out… I didn’t expect that at all!! Thank you all so much!! I’ve added another $10 tier for batches of cookies, since the other $10 tier sold out. I’m hoping maybe I’ll get a lot speedier at recording covers so I can add more of those too?? Anyway, if you wanna join this community you can do it for free or $1+ 🙂 https://www.patreon.com/srvvlgd
Syndicated radio talk show host G. Gordon Liddy interviewed Rawles and said that his book posits a collapse of civilization. When Rawles was interviewed by radio host Laura Ingraham, she described the book as going through point-by-point the basics of being prepared and heightening your chances of surviving some type of major crisis. Ingraham said that there is a thin line between order and total anarchy in time of a crisis, when peoples’ lives are on the line—and all the niceties and the rules go out the door.
I am also quite pleased to see that the Citizens of the eastern half of Washington are making progress in constitutionally partitioning to become the State of Liberty. (A state boundary hasn’t been officially redrawn in the United States since West Virginia was Constitutionally partitioned from Virginia back in 1863. But the Liberty State movement is proceeding apace.) I hope that a similar effort gains steam, to partition eastern Oregon.
That pepper spray will only cover you for the first day or two, and it won’t help you from further than 10′ away. What if your attacker(s) are armed? They’ve probably got better range than your pepper spray (even if it’s in a super soaker), and you better believe once the starving starts, you need good old fashioned lead ventilation (or the viable threat of it) to hold off the hungry. A 22 is a start but it won’t end threats quickly unless you’re Chris Kyle’s second coming.
I received mine a couple of days ago and was surprised at the quality of this kit. I have bought a ton of other survival kits in the past and was almost always satisfied with them even after doing research on them. I don’t know if the battery on top of the knife died that powers the flashlight but the LED light was super dim. Dim as in, I tried using in in total darkness and couldn’t see anything, not even the knife. The compass had a lot of air bubbles in it and it doesn’t even give a correct reading. I tried holding it in my hand, putting it on level surfaces and still it wouldn’t give a correct reading. I would move the compass about 5 inches to the left or right and the directional arrows would turn randomly 180degrees even though I didn’t rotate it or anything. The clasp that closes the kit together snapped off the first day. Also, the run channels that make the kit waterproof aren’t fully aligned because there are gaps when I would close the kit before the main clasp broke off. I am not happy with this profuct. Maybe I got a defective one (a lemon) but I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone and will not buy it in the future.
This may not be the best-smelling solution to preventing heatstroke when you’re out in the scorching desert, but it works. Take a piece of cloth like a bandana and soak it in urine. Wrap it around your head and it will keep your head from feeling the wrath of the sun. Heat stroke is the second leading cause of death in the desert, next to dehydration.
Keep and Bear. A great documentary about a man who had never owned a gun who moves his family to Idaho. Once there, he becomes gun savvy, then a gun owner, and inevitably a part of the Gun Culture. Available for free streaming on Amazon Prime.
All signs point toward an upcoming large-scale Israeli/U.S. attack on Lebanon and Syria and all the sycophantic mainstream media are manipulating the public as we speak to gather support for a “war to end all wars.”
