As per the perspective of a human being, we are born, we grow old and older and die. Only a lucky few will live to be a hundred years old. When we are born, instead of viewing it as WE come into existence, let us switch our perspectives and think that the world comes into existence for us. And when we die, the world is no more for us. So, for us its only that 100 years of world with everything in it. After I am gone, there is no world because there is no ‘me’ to behold it. So, my purpose of life should be to enjoy and stay happy in those 100 years instead of worrying to make the world a better place.

Another rule that I would suggest to all of you is that you can live without thinking for three seconds! It means it takes about three seconds to do something dumb that is horrible enough to get you killed if you are thinking right! So, stay calm and don’t do anything without putting some thought into it.

Having explained why central banks are so nervous about cryptocurrencies, it seems the rest of the banking sector is finally admitting the real driver behind their disdain for digital currencies – they are competition and an existential threat.

• My next tip maybe common sense to some, but figured it’s still worth noting: for better maintenance of keeping balance, it’s best to keep heavier things on top and the lighter items at the bottom. What this will do is help you with stability while you are on the move.

Now just like most Johnny Rambo Wannabes, in my early dumb & naive military days I, too, use to pack & carry one of those super-duper wrist rocket slingshots to the field too. You know, just in case I had to hunt for my own food. And so I took mine with me wherever I went, the boonies, desert, jungles, mountains, everywhere!

While we don’t push apocalyptic scenarios we do acknowledge the fact that disasters happen. We feel everyone has the ultimate responsibility for their own survival and we strive to provide practical information that is relevant to things happening in your life.

And one last tip for shelter placement: Survey the ground around you for 20 yards or more in every direction — you are looking for ant colonies and bee hives and other insect nests. When you’re sure there are none close by, now you can place your shelter.

This one hits the spot for family gatherings or even gathering around to watch movies or sports events on television. It’s a little heartier and tastier than the basic recipe. Another variation we sometimes make is to substitute a can of meat/beef chili for the sausage and salsa/milk. However, we prefer this version best.

If you find yourself stuck in the wilderness during the winter, do not eat snow unless you fully melt and warm it first! If you eat snow your body temperature will drop and you risk hypothermia or death. An on-the-go method of warming snow is to place it in your water bottle and place that between your jacket and clothing.

But what if the times turn? What if you find yourself in a challenging situation, away from all your friends, gadgets and thingamajigs? What if you can’t just buy your way out? And what if your life depends on getting out of that bind? Do you think you have the skills, the know-how, the presence of mind to handle a situation like that?

In an area of canyons and cliffs, if there are hostile forces or dangerous wildlife on the ground (bears, wolves, mountain lions, etc.), you may find that setting up shelter on a cliff 50 – 100 feet off the ground is a great way to survive and sleep safely at night and out of danger.

As an United States citizen surviving in the modern era of propaganda, possessing the contextual knowledge of any situation, whether it be at the voting booth, in class, or church, or rebuilding after a collapse, places that citizen in an advantageou…

Coconut water contains vital nutrients and sugar that can keep you fed and alive for long. If you can find coconut trees, make sure that you use the water as food. However, remember that if you drink too much coconut water, it can give you the runs! In that case, just eat some powdered charcoal. It can help you ease your stomach woes.

where t is some time, T is a random variable denoting the time of death, and Pr stands for probability. That is, the survival function is the probability that the time of death is later than some specified time t. The survival function is also called the survivor function or survivorship function in problems of biological survival, and the reliability function in mechanical survival problems. In the latter case, the reliability function is denoted R(t).

For personnel who are flying over large bodies of water, in additional to wearing a survival suit over cold water, a survival kit may have additional items such as flotation vests, sea anchor, fishing nets, fishing equipment, fluorescent sea marking dye, pyrotechnical signals, a survival radio and/or radio-beacon, formerly a distress marker light replaced by a flashing strobe, formerly a seawater still[4] or chemical desalinator kit now replaced by a hand pumped reverse osmosis desalinator (MROD) for desalinating seawater, a raft repair kit, a paddle, a bailer and sponge, sunscreen, medical equipment, a whistle, a compass, and a sun shade hat.

• Dew: Dew collects on plants and grasses. Using a cloth or piece of clothing soak up the dew and then squeeze it into a container. This can be a very effective method of collecting a considerable amount of water.

If you are planning to go on hunting, trekking or a camping expedition, make sure that your shoes are suited for the terrain. Shoes are one of the most important pieces of equipment that you will carry in these expeditions.

Pliers are another one of those survival tools that cannot easily be replaced by other devices. Being able to grip an object with powerful force and pull or twist can be essential but cannot be replicated using your fingers.

If you need the help of a compass but you don’t have one, you can use an analog watch to do that. Point the hour (short) hand at the sun and draw two imaginary lines between it and the 12 o’clock point. You will create an angle between the two lines. Draw an imaginary straight line bisecting the angle. The line point away from the sun is north, because the sun always goes to set in the west direction.

Right size: If you are planning to walk a lot, remember that your feet are going to get a bit swollen. In that case, your shoes need to fit correctly. Anticipate the situation and choose your shoe size accordingly.

Filmed a music video for So Super Slow a while back with @luclonde and @darlinyoukillme — Luc is turning my singing footage into a futuristic animation which takes a lot of work! Here’s a still of his work in progress. Looking forward to seeing it develop more!

His Tools For Survival: What You Need to Survive When You’re on Your Own (2014) is another non-fiction book drawn primarily from his SurvivalBlog.com posts. The publisher describes the book as a guide to the selection, use, and care of tools. It was released on December 30, 2014, by Penguin Books, and immediately jumped to #1 in Amazon’s Survival & Emergency Preparedness books category. The paperback book’s ISBN is 978-0-452-29812-5. It is also sold as an e-book and audiobook.[60][61]

The Survival function S(t), is the probability that a subject survives longer than time t. S(t) is theoretically a smooth curve, but it is usually estimated using the Kaplan-Meier (KM) curve. The graph shows the KM plot for the aml data and can be interpreted as follows:

It’s an old adage: if you have enough condoms, you can survive in the wild for years. And even if we just made that up, it’s still true. Condoms can provide you with food, water, fire, and shelter—the four key elements of survival. Getting stranded with a condom shipment would be the luckiest break apart from not getting stranded at all. For starters, condoms make very decent water storage containers. You would be surprised at how big they can get—two or three full condoms will provide enough water for a person for a week.

Imagine that you’re stranded on an island where your only immediate source of food and water is from coconuts.  You don’t have any tools, and you haven’t stumbled on appropriate rocks that can be used to pry open the husks and shells.  What do you do?  Well, there’s an alternative that will work almost every …
