Tsunami Bomb happened at a time when a lot of punk was happening, vocalist Emily Agent M Whitehurst, recalled in 2015 , but the number of female vocalists in that genre was pretty small. [We] just kind of stood apart. In retrospect, the Bay Area band’s gender makeup remains an anomaly in the g…
I am sorry to say this but your tent is worthless. A true survivalist would have a 4 season tent. One used on expeditions to alaska or antartic summer. You have to survivor a winter in Minnisota, Michigan, Maine or other very cold area. Most tents bought at stores like walmart will only last one or two years of constant use. So unless you have put out big bucks for a UV protected tent and stove heater, your dead in winter.
If all you can have is this in your pocket and some survival knowledge, you r good to go!!! Its tightly packed inside but you do have a little space for some purifications tablets, a 5 inch paracord, an extra shaving blade, a few matches, pain killers and antibiotics, three bandaids. The knife works well too but i removed the battery for the LED and kept it in the storage incase it leaks. One other thing, tape up the compass glass as the curved glass is high enough to scrap against anything you keep the kit on. A Recommended Purchase…
However, there is no substitute for experience in any outdoor situation, and your reaction in a survival situation depends on your education and training. Always keep in mind that a wilderness survival situation can happen to you. Be prepared and plan to survive.
Each week we would meet and go over my numbers and even though I was a top producer she insulted me. “What am I going to do with you Michael?” – was her favorite question as she shook her head from side to side like I was a bad boy.
20-30 feet high up in the trees would be a bad time for a hammock to experience equipment failure or for a knot or strap to come loose. Use your heavy duty sewing awl (see above), thread, and a second rope to incorporate additional support and a second knot system (on each end where the hammock is tied to a tree).
Well, folks, you asked for it so here it is my recommendations of the week – I will be posting this blog segment every Wednesday. Products that I recommend here are products that I … Continue Reading about MD Creekmore’s Recommendations of the Week
Don’t fight the tide. Shock waves from the back of the crowd will push you forward—do not fight them. Stopping is the quickest way to fall, and falling is the quickest way to die. Instead, “wait for the surge to come, go with it, and move sideways. Keep moving with it and sideways, with it and sideways,” says Edwin Galea, a crowd behavior specialist at the University of Greenwich.
One of the best ways to catch the attention of the rescuers or to pass people is using the Universal wave. It is one of the simplest gestures to learn. I am sure you must have seen it in many movies. To do the wave, stand with your legs slightly apart and wave your arms like you would do when you are doing jumping jacks.
The water was the energy source. Again, just because something has one USE doesn’t mean you can’t use it for both or for whatever you want. Here, a solar powered pump, pumps water up into a storage tank up above its intended use. When needed a simple hand valve is then turned the water drains out of the tank, turning a generator and you have electricity…. (If you capture the draining water, you could use it repeatedly or to drink or shower etc)… I noted I’d come back to fuel (storage) tanks. A small gasoline powered generator is useless without gas. But, a Diesel one-if you could make bio-diesel, or with a flex fuel generator, using diesel or propane, could have a way to add a smaller portable tank… by installing one of those large propane tanks common on farms or in the Mid west even more options.

Having a well-stocked emergency kit in your car is a good place to start if you’re taking a road trip. If you’re camping or hiking, you’ll want some survival supplies in your pack. The old saying holds true — it’s better to have something and not need it than to need it and not have it. On the following pages, we’ll walk you through the 10 items that should go in every survival kit.
When it comes to gear, I feel I have settled into a groove. I rarely experiment with tobacco these days (same with the pipes) and just stick to what I know I like. Hope you had a merry Christmas, and we’ll see you in the new year! Everyday Carry Item Breakdown …
In this list I share the top 10 most influential survival and preparedness blogs. Although this may be my list, I did not pick these randomly. I used a number of factors in determining their “influence”: Google PageRank, number of incoming links, traffic, blog comments/discussions, and Alexa Rank as well as “that special something” (very scientific, I know).
If your Zippos or flintlock lighters have run out, keep them because you can still use it to make fire. There’s usually cotton inside these types of lighters. Take them and use the flint to create a spark. The cotton is usually so dry it will catch fire easily.

See it through your kids’ eyes. In 2014, actress Gwyneth Paltrow popularized conscious uncoupling as a byword for a positive, amicable divorce. As doctors Habib Sadeghi and Sherry Sami subsequently wrote on Paltrow’s website, “Children are imitators by nature … If we are to raise a more civilized generation, we must model those behaviors during the good and bad times in our relationships.”
Why would we carry gold? I can understand the importance of silver because it it $20 an ingot and can be used for trade and barter. Gold is a whopping $1,250 a coin, and no one in a SHTF crisis is going to have change for a purchase.
John’s workshop answered a lot of my questions -and questions I didn’t know I had, about the business side of commercial photography. He runs you through a job from start to finish. He starts with how to market yourself to the work you want, bidding for the job, running all the way to how to thank your client at the end of a great shoot. He shows you how to be the best photographer and business manager you can be. This isn’t to mention all of the real world insights he slips in. The information is worth it all by itself, but the relationships you’ll build and the fun you have will simply put the whole experience over the top!
Learning how to make your own makeup not only saves money, it saves your skin from the nasty chemicals so many cosmetics feature. There are numerous organic options available these days; however, learning to make your own foundation, lip gloss and eyeliner is pretty darn nifty. It’s also handy in the event of a zombie apocalypse that includes the total destruction of your mak… Continue Reading →
That is a big statement. That is also what I see so many people searching for, especially in contrast with the superficial values of our degenerative, consumeristic, capitalistic, western society. Perhaps more than anything else, wilderness survival served as the doorway to a deep and profound experience of connection, belonging, and meaning to my life. I’ve discovered along the way that my passion and purpose is to mentor others into that same profound sense of connection, belonging, and meaning that comes through wilderness survival and deep nature connection, ultimately guiding them to their deepest calling.
The uses for a portable solar generator system are many. A few solar panels and a corresponding ‘solar generator’ (built-in battery storage, power inverter, controls & connectors) might be used for any number of purposes. Note that most ‘solar generator’ systems can also be charged up by simply plugging into …
If you’re suffering from hypothermia, bubble wrap can save your life. Who would have guessed? Apparently, the air bubbles in the packing material create an insulating shield that bounces back body heat to keep a person warm. In one study, it was found that a sheet of bubble wrap was about seventy percent as effective as three cotton blankets for insulating a person—and since it’s made out of plastic, it was even more effective in the wind and rain.
Bamboo Sling Bow: Here’s another survival weapon you can make out of a hollow bamboo stick or any piece of hallow wood or plastic tubing. Only that this weapon is only good for shooting arrows and sticks, no rocks. Again, all you need is two (2) 1/2 inch long screw eyelets, some thick rubberbands, a little bit of duct tape and a knife. And then take a good close look at these photos you should be able to figure out how to make it.
sebra/Shutterstock“Divorce is always good news,” says comedian Louis C.K., “because no good marriage has ever ended in one.” (You won’t believe these crazy reasons people actually filed for divorce.) This hard truth may not make the emotional process any easier to deal with—but these three actions might.
So what if you don’t know how to fish, or don’t have any gear? All you need is a shirt and enough saliva to spit. Spit fishing is a quick way to catch minnows and small fish, which can then either be cooked up into a crunchy goulash or used as bait to catch bigger fish. All you do is wade out into the water, lift the front of your shirt to improvise a net under the water’s surface, and spit. Minnows are attracted to the spit—they think it’s food—and when they’re clustered in front of you, jerk your shirt up out of the water.
Since the dawn of man, weapons have been a priority for hunting and defending ourselves. With hungry, large predators and other humans ready to attack, self-defense was vital. In addition, weapons … [Read More…]

Financial guru Peter Schiff, who accurately predicted the recession of 2008, says the problems we face now are even bigger. We will live through another Great Depression if Schiff is correct. And one of the main concerns is something very few dare to even mention or show a concern about: the national debt. Schiff’s podcast from […]
This is also the birthday of Howard Pyle (1853-1911) an influential American book illustrator, painter, and author. He was the mentor of many great American artists including Thornton Oakley, Frank E. Schoonover, Allen Tupper True, and of course N.C. Wyeth.

Crab apples, for instance, have healing properties in their raw form. They possess astringents that can be rubbed across cuts and lacerations, causing the wounds to tighten and heal faster. Pine resin, on the other hand, are great antiseptics. They can be used topically on wounds or gargled to clean the mouth. They’re usually found in solidified form within the tree, but you have to melt them first before using. If found fresh and still gooey, you can apply the substance immediately.
Previously here on NicheHacks.com I had a much nicer looking layout on the home page but bounce rate was high so I added double column posts and bounce rate dropped significantly. It doesn’t look as nice but that’s not what is important.
