Survival Life I have ordered items form them last year at http://survivallife.com/credit-card-knife/. They adverstised it as free and all I paid was the shipping cost. Please note how difficult it can be making a fire through traditional survival & bushcraft techniques like rubbing sticks together. While I wholeheartedly recommend you practice and aim to perfect these no-gear-needed fire-making skills, I also recommend you not depend solely on your ability to make a fire in this way if it’s at all possible. At least do your best to carry a fire steel on you as a backup, especially considering how hard it can be to light a fire in wet/humid conditions.

One of the top survival priorities in an emergency is to find and disinfect enough drinking water. Two of my favorite water disinfection tablets are Katadyn’s Micropur tablets, and Potable Aqua’s Iodine While these two products use different chemicals, they are both more than 99 percent effective against waterborne pathogens. So while they both are highly effective, you should still weigh the pros and cons of each.
Speaking of hairbands. I sometimes found myself in need of rubber bands while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s amazing how and when the need for such a trivial little thing can arise. And I discovered hairbands are tougher. Paperclips are also in my BOB. Never know when you may need a short bit of light duty wire to use as an improvised needle or fish hook, light duty clamp, or twist ties. Small, compact, and lightweight. I have two cellophane wrappers from cigarette packs, one holds a small assortment of different sized hairbands, the other has an assortment of different sized paperclips. Both of them together weigh about 3 ounces and take up less space than just one of the cigarette packs that yielded the wrappers.

Since Anthony’s first week in our wonderful world, the strap has been by his side and the “spirit” of the Survival Strap has been with him since and hopefully will be for a long time. The parents have appreciatively thanked me over and over for the gift but also thank the Survival Straps Company for giving and keeping the hope of survival for their son through the “spirit” of the strap.”
You order stuff, and they never ship you the product. I am still waiting for the crossbow that I ordered 6 months ago. Also, their customer service is useless and unhelpful. After 3 months of waiting for my first order, they decided to cancel my order without my permission. Then the company sent me an email to order the same crossbow on November 21st, and now again I still do not have my order, and they can’t tell me when I will receive it.
The day before graduation our new Marine had five hours of liberty available to us, and it was a tearful moment as we saw him for the first time in 5 months.  We showed us the Eagle Globe & Anchor that was awarded to him at the end of The Crucible, and we showed him the Survival Straps we wore to support his safety and success.

We covered Survival Knives generally in our Bug Out Bag Essentials post but they are so useful it is worth re-hashing here. Generally you are better off getting a solid, full tang knife from a trusted knifemaker such as Ontario, Camillus, Becker, or Gerber. Stay away from hollow handled survival knives if at all possible. The small amount of storage space will not make up for the overall inferior build quality. For more information on choosing a good knife for any outdoors situation, check out our comprehensive guide by CLICKING HERE.

A Petzl Grigri 2 Belay Device is only an effective tool for someone experienced in the basics of climbing. Climbing and descending by rope is not that difficult to learn and many cities have recreation centers and outfitters with indoor walls where you can be taught how to climb by an instructor. (To be more prepared for the wilderness, follow up with instruction on an actual rock face or cliff.)
