I understand it’s not the same business model as TIWIB, but the numbers just don’t add up in my head. Even with 270k email subscriptions, you’d have to blasting out promotions every single day, and have incredibly high conversion rates to make 1 million a month. The fact that this website is being used as a proof of concept to their marketing skills just adds to my suspicions.

Setting up a snare is simple. Just make a loop out of a thin metal wire by folding the wire back onto itself. It is like tying an overhand knot. Once the animal is trapped, the weight of the animal will be enough to synch the knot.

This post is exactly what I would hope to find…solid info with simple action steps to point us in the right direction, undoubtedly followed up with specific, detailed info products you can sell us. 🙂

I sent it on 2011-01-18, I did not mean to infer that you should vouch for my book if you didn’t read it. I was (you said your sorry so not any more) angry that you didn’t read it after I sent you one for free.

Once you’ve begun to stockpile survival gear, it can be hard to determine what you’re missing from your list. As a result, we’ve taken the time to create as much of a comprehensive list of all the different types of survival gear as possible.

I got a message from Phil of Phil and Ariel’s Mixtape show on KPCA — Survival Guide is the artist of the week on today’s show! Listen in at the KPCA website from 5-7 pacific, or, if you’re in the Petaluma area, on your car radio at 103.3 FM.

Your ears are a very important asset to situational awareness! We hear all the time. Even when we’re sleeping our subconscious still listens. During the daytime as we go about our daily work, routines, and activities, our ears send ‘input’ to our brain. Even when we’re not ‘listening’ we’re still …

One book I have in my BOB is John Wiseman SAS Survival Handbook. It gives you a lot of information. I also have Joseph and Amy Alton” The Survival Medicine Handbook: A guide for when help is NOT on the way. Great for your 1St Aid bag.

Brave an animal ambush: We’ve all read about bear and shark attacks. But what about an aggressive wolf or deer? Regardless of species, stand your ground. Running will trigger the animal’s chase mentality, and unless you’re trying to avoid a snake, you won’t be able to run fast enough.

Right, c’mon people. I can literally hear you squealing. This is a list of Bear Grylls survival tips, what did you expect? Tips on getting your tent poles set up right? Nope. You’ve got eyeballs instead. Which is more than we can say for the yak which Bear once munched the eyes off in Siberia.

Survival Power: Snare placement can be a key factor to whether or not you catch anything; your ability to know where to set snares relies on you learning and practicing basic trapping skills for capturing small game. Baiting traps with common game foods like nuts, seeds, and berries (and artificial baits) can help boost your snaring success.

These three methods are asymptotically equivalent. For large enough N, they will give similar results. For small N, they may differ somewhat. The last row, Score (logrank) test is the result for the log-rank test, with p=0.011, the same result as the log-rank test, because the log-rank test is a special case of a Cox PH regression. The Likelihood ratio test has better behavior for small sample sizes, so it is generally preferred.

Water from many waterbodies may seem clear, but it is filled with microscopic organisms that may cause severe infections. If you must wash the wound, make sure that you use clean water. If you can boil water, then use boiled water to clean the wounds. If you can’t use boiled water, you can use the water collected from tree transpiration. We have seen how to collect this water in the tip#10.

If you need to cross a powerful river, Bear recommends anticipating where you think you’ll be spat out on the other side then giving yourself an extra 25% for safe measure. You can then use a backpack liner, an excellent flotation device, to help you on your way to the other side.

This weekend is non-refundable. Due to the small class size, and inherent variability in this industry, we are unable to meet the requests that arise as there are fixed costs associated with this workshop. Thank you for your understanding.

by Bill H I was recently at a gun show and a dealer friend of mine had a couple of Smith and Wesson Model 10 revolvers. He also had a couple of the Taurus copies of the same gun. Prices were under … Continue Reading about Fall In Love With The Smith and Wesson Model 10

When it comes to emergency preparedness, most people I talk to think that nothing will ever happen to them- I constantly hear  “why should I bother”. In today’s world it sounds crazy to talk about storing food. Why bother when restaurants, convenient stores and grocery stores are open 24 hours a day, 7days a week? We have grown up in the age of consumerism and take for granted there will always be food on the shelves. Well, what if there is a national emergency?  Or if the unions repeat what happened in France – and stop delivery trucks in protest. What if our government keeps spending and hyper inflation occurs? Just look what happened in Boston! http://survivalist-hub.blogspot.com/. Why not be prepared just in case? It drives me NUTS when people have their heads in the sand!! But I know I am not nuts.

Although it is promoted as a survival-gear review site, The Survival Cache has such a great number of articles on preparedness and survival that brings it to our number 9 spot within the top 10 blogs.

A truly unique travel knife, this is one piece of survival gear you can’t live without. About the size of your standard credit card, it unfolds to reveal a sharp blade and comfortable, non-slip gripping handle that lets you slice, cut or chop your way through even the toughest materials.

In common words, the goal of human existence is to scramble for power and wealth.  Human society is just a stage for race, or competition. To the losers, competition very cruel. Competition causes a lot of stress, so not everyone likes competition. If you give up, others, including your parents, will look down on you, and tell you that you are useless. Therefore, every one of us born in this society is forced to take part in the competition. Why is human society a stage for competition? Because human beings have needs. The first need is oxygen, and then the needs for food, water, clothes, housing and transportation are followed. All these things are not free, have limited supply, except oxygen. Nobody can survive without food, water, clothes and house, so, people feel unsafe, and then they desire for all these. This desire is limitless. Even if someone has gathered enough wealth for the rest of his life, he still wants to collect more for his children, even his grandchildren. The result of limited resources plus limitless desires is competition.

The tiny house movement continues to gain momentum, and it’s not crazy-hard to understand why. While moving into a 200- square- foot home is a huge change if you’re used to living in a 1,000- or 2,000- square- foot residence, there are many benefits to tiny house living. If you are looking to seriously downsize, review why a tiny house might be exactly what you need.

I ordered the Hoffman Richter Talon knife for $24.95 with a promised delivery date of 7-12 business days. I called for status at the 18 business day mark and was told the order was misplaced. They said my money will be refunded, but we’ll see. Although they list an Austin, Texas physical address and a phone number with the correct Austin, Texas exchange (512), the number connects to a customer service contractor company in the Philippines.

Tip: Also purchase roadside flares and keep on hand for an emergency calling for a fast fire. Flame-producing hand held roadside flares like Orion Safety Flares are different than the ones above and not fired from a gun. Carry these in your vehicle and take a couple on your next hiking trip packed safely in a waterproof container — these can be used to start a fire in wet conditions also, with very little work.
