Here’s a poem by the 13th century poet and scholar Rumi that I go right to whenever I need help to stabilize myself and feel good. It always makes me smile. Rumi describes life as like a ‘guest house’ where all kinds of things come and go and how we always have the choice to welcome it all, no matter what happens, and not to be a helpless victim. What does it say to you?

The question we must ask is this – Is Trump aware that his policies are creating a perfect distraction for those same banking elites? I believe we will know for certain the answer to that before 2018 is over.

A survival kit is a package of basic tools and supplies prepared in advance as an aid to survival in an emergency. Civil and military aircraft, lifeboats, and spacecraft are equipped with survival kits.

Not my personal “go to” weapon of choice, but I’m also not a tactical pen-wielding master. I’ve seen videos on tactical pens being used for self-defense, and they are lethal in the right set of hands.

You learn a lot about yourself when you camp. Your patience will be tested when pitching a tent or building a fire; you’ll see food from a whole new perspective; and you’ll understand that sleeping on the ground with little else than a nylon sheet protecting you actually feels pretty awesome.

Like any emergency kit, the Pocket Survival Pak — which was developed by Doug Ritter, founder of the survivalist website Equipped To Survive — can help lost or injured explorers signal helicopters and planes, start fires, boil water, melt snow for water, catch fish, navigate through the woods, trap small animals, perform rudimentary first aid, and repair damaged gear.

If you have two mirrors, you can use the reflection from one mirror as a light source and reflect it from the second mirror. This enables you to signal north even if there is no sun present there to reflect light.

Unless you’re on the open prairie, if you’re crossing through the wilderness there’s a great chance you’re going to come to a cliff or ridge or canyon at some point. The drop before you may be only 20 yards at it’s shallowest point — but that’s a 60 foot drop. You can’t climb down that. Now you’re stuck.

We’ve discussed survival firearms many times on this site (survival guns/survival rifles). And while there is no such thing as one single “best” survival gun, there’s a lot to think about and consider.

Besides the great articles that Rourke puts out, he also has the best (I haven’t found one better yet) free survival resources page — everything from weapons and communications to medical and gardening. All free and all fantastic.

This wilderness survival guide wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging this; hands down, skills are much more important than gear when it comes to wilderness survival. You can buy and collect all the best gear in the world, but what happens if you forget it? Or lose it? Or use it up? Then you’ll be relying on yourself – your skills. With that said, it is still good to learn about wilderness survival gear and put together a wilderness survival kit. Just don’t’ depend on it.

On a Documentary. A country was trying to use geothermal steam. But, as with most places, Electrical power is a use it or lose it just because of the way we design our electrical system. (We don’t have batteries in the loop)… Alas. How does a company store the heat. (Which is the basic component of the steam system).

If it is known only that the date of death is after some date, this is called right censoring. Right censoring will occur for those subjects whose birth date is known but who are still alive when they are lost to follow-up or when the study ends.

The SOL Origin redefines the survival kit from the ground up. In one product that fits in the palm of your hand, the Origin gives you the collection of tools you need to survive the unexpected and make it back alive. Think of it as the ultimate cross-breed of the traditional ‘ten essentials’ and a survival kit, all wrapped up in one lightweight, easy to carry, indestructible package. The heart of the Origin is its ABS-plastic waterproof case which contains an array of key survival tools, including Tinder-Quik fire starters, 150lb-test braided nylon cord, mil-spec stainless steel wire, and an emergency sewing and fishing kit. For those unfamiliar with wilderness survival, backcountry expert Buck Tilton’s survival instructions contain over 60 survival and strategies. Integrated into the Origin’s lid is a flip-up Rescue Flash signal mirror with a retro-reflective aiming aid. Flip the case over and find the one-hand-operable Fire Lite sparker, a removable liquid-damped compass and, secured in a button-release slot, is a versatile folding lock-blade knife. This essential survival knife features a 100db rescue whistle, ultra-bright LED light integrated into the handle and an AUS-8 steel drop-point blade designed for the precision cutting you need during survival emergencies. Welcome to the future of survival – the Origin is mandatory equipment for any outdoor adventurer.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the must-haves in your expedition backpack, how to use everything from tech to trees to find your way, and the myriad of ways to create fire—without rubbing sticks together.

High quality, durable blade. Very convenient and discreet. Fits in any credit card slot. This knife is for when you need to do something in a pinch, not heavy duty work. Very pleased with my purchase!

Besides the wind, water is the next major vulnerability of stick matches. But neither wind nor water are a match (pun intended) for these amazing matches. I routinely display UCO Stormproof matches to my survival students, striking the large matches and then dunking the burning match in a bowl of water. To the surprise of my onlookers, the match bursts into flame again after being lifted from the water. These matches come in a bomb-proof watertight container with replacement striker strips and even a bit of cotton to keep the matches from rattling around, and to serve as emergency tinder.

Sure, if survival was the sole purpose of life, why would nature evolve intelligent life forms. Bacteria or algae or other such primitive life forms survive just fine. I think that  intelligent beings have more chances of surviving against the unpredictable changes in nature unlike primitive life forms which are specifically adapted to a particular environment.

Multi-tools are nice, but sometimes a single dedicated tool can be necessary, especially for harder jobs. This survival hatchet by our boy Bear Grylls is just such a tool. Whether you’re chopping trees to build yourself a shelter or just need something to fight off whatever monsters live in the woods, this will save your life.
