You never know what’s inside a stream or river. It has all sorts of stuff that you probably don’t want in your system. Grab a sock and fill them with charcoal. Follow it up with a layer of sand and then finally a layer of grass. The grass will catch the large particles in the water while the sand will filter out the fine granules. The charcoal will purify the water of any harmful chemicals.

I wanted to get into commercial photography, but I didn’t know where to start. This workshop gave me the tools and inspiration I needed. It taught me so much about the business-side of commercial photography and how to market myself; however, the most valuable thing I took away is that your photography has to say something about who you are as an artist.
Good list and perfect because there is everything from doctoring yourself to fighting for yourself and even growing food for yourself. When it comes to covering every aspect, you have done it right, M.D.!
Why do I rate binoculars in the Top 10 Survival Gear? Not only do binoculars help hunters spot game animals — they help people lost in the wilderness identify distant features in the terrain, sometimes saving several miles of needless travel. Misreading the terrain can bring a person to the edge of a cliff or canyon or to a river that is simply to dangerous to cross. Now you have to turn back.

I am the invisible prepper. I am, on the surface, a caricature of everything that most SurvivalBlog readers seem to deplore. On the surface, I am a caricature of what the non-prepper community expects me to be– completely average in every way. Who…
However, with that said, there are some impressive survival stove options available on the market and worth a look. For example, this bio stove allows you to generate electricity with a survival stove is a bonus.
I’ve been waiting almost 30 days now on 4 different orders, about 10 days on another order, and have only recieved 2 orders out of the orders I have placed. They say the items are on back order, but they still send emails every day trying to sell the same items they say are on backorder. I’m completely disappointed in Survival Life; their shipping is downright awful and just a slap to the face. Do they not want your repeated business?

For serious wounds, shirt sleeves can be cut off and used as bandages if necessary. Remember to only tie them around a wound so that they are still loose enough to stick one or two fingers between the bandage and the appendage/body.
The insane have taken over the asylum folks. The geniuses over at the Canada Border Services Agency decided that they weren’t going to let the United Kingdom beat them in the Stupid Olympics and have opted to ban the import of basically all folding knives (if the new law …

Don’t lose your lunch. Never eat a big meal before a big drop, warns John Cooper, a professional ride tester who braves up to 100 theme park thrills a day at the U.K.’s Drayton Manor. Eat light, wait 90 minutes between chow and coaster, and face forward throughout the ride to avoid the spins.
Ditto on kenneth,s comments. Greatlist! Most of what I know so far is from fiction and pinterest and other readings. I had to decide if I really wanted to live after the Shtf. I am retired military and have diabetes and had a stroke in Nov. I have grit~completed a 26 mile marathon. But now find it hard to do anything. I am A “young” 68 y.o. according to my doc. I say no.  The bag is sealed, and the only real reason for the bucket is to physically protect the thin bag. I use Home Depot orange buckets. I probably wouldn’t use a bucket that held some really toxic substance, but that’s it.  The only difference in the food grade and non food grade NEW buckets is the mold release agent isn’t FDA approved for food. That’s it.   Again, with sealed mylar, I just don’t see a problem.
Hi, Well another week has gone by and I still did not receive my purchase. I think it has been lost during Christmas extra buzy time for the carriers. And if the first one ever comes in I will keep both and let you know whatever happens. This situation has to end . A refund is out of the question I want the product and if I end up with
To answer such questions, it is necessary to define lifetime. In the case of biological survival, death is unambiguous, but for mechanical reliability, failure may not be well-defined, for there may well be mechanical systems in which failure is partial, a matter of degree, or not otherwise localized in time. Even in biological problems, some events (for example, heart attack or other organ failure) may have the same ambiguity. The theory outlined below assumes well-defined events at specific times; other cases may be better treated by models which explicitly account for ambiguous events.
Astronauts are provided with survival kits due to the difficulty of predicting where a spacecraft will land on its return to earth, especially in the case of an equipment failure. In early US space flights, the kit was optimised for survival at sea; the one provided for John Glenn on the first American space flight in Friendship 7 contained a life raft, pocket knife, signaling mirror, shark repellent, seawater desalting tablets, sunscreen, soap, first aid kit, and other items. A survival kit was provided for the Apollo program which was …designed to provide a 48-hour postlanding (water or land) survival capability for three crewmen between 40 degrees North and South latitudes. It contained a survival radio, a survival light assembly, desalter kits, a machete, sunglasses, water cans, sun lotion, a blanket, a pocket knife, netting and foam pads.
This is great! My internet cut out for a couple hours this morning, so I thought to myself, “I really need to download some resource books.” Lo and behold, I come here, and there’s a great list of free downloads. Perfect timing… Thanks, MD!

No problem. In my case the teacher (Math & English, including grammar) was my grandfather. In my household “ain’t” was a four letter word, and improper verb tense was a minor crime. I have most of it ready to go except for some paragraph cleanup. Cut & paste from the original pdf, a little editing, a little Perl script for the tables, & viola. When complete I plan to send it to MD to do with what he wants. Perhaps a few of us can help turn it into a new improved & expanded edition.
At the push of a button, PLBs from companies like ACR Electronics Inc. transmit your position via GPS coordinates and the 406 MHz radio frequency to search-and-rescue centers, who may be able to then start a search process within minutes.
