I’m a believer bullion silver, in part because of its utility for barter. Secondarily, I’m a proponent of silver because it is presently undervalued versus gold. In the long term I am confident that silver will outperform gold. Its only drawback is its relatively high weight and bulk, per Dollar invested.

I know nothing about survival, which is likely why I think this kit is great. I haven’t actually used it (and hopefully never will!!) but living in a potential earthquake zone, I thought I should get something for the car. Seems to be pretty comprehensive for short term survival. What I really love is the guide that comes with it. It’s really well written, easy to understand and assumes nothing about your prior experience or knowledge. Does not take up much space in the glove compartment.

Multi-tools are nice, but sometimes a single dedicated tool can be necessary, especially for harder jobs. This survival hatchet by our boy Bear Grylls is just such a tool. Whether you’re chopping trees to build yourself a shelter or just need something to fight off whatever monsters live in the woods, this will save your life.

A geothermal system is a very efficient power source, steam is nearly free. The piping and Generators are typical of Hydro, Nuclear and other Electrical power plants. Yet, in this case the customers paid high rates. Because of the design of the Electrical infrastructure. No surge and No storage. They had to install expensive turbine (gas jet engine) powered generators.

When you’re in a dark, troubled place acknowledge it. Face your fears, worries and enemies and see what happens. When you look right into the face of despair and start to deal with it you’re on your way to freedom.

In this scenario, it’s not enough to just recommend a good lighter — what you need in this case is actually a proven fire starter — something that will help you get a fire going fast if you’re in an emergency that may end shortly in death by hypothermia.

Fishing hooks and a good quantity of fishing line. Coil it up and stow in a pocket. The hooks are good if you want to fish, but can come in handy for other purposes, too, and weigh almost nothing. Stick them and the wire into your wallet and put it in your back pocket.

Find food: You can survive up to three weeks without food, but a growling stomach will set in much sooner. These four items are always edible: grass, cattails, acorns, and pine needles. A simple rhyme can help you identify safe-to-eat berries: “White and yellow, kill a fellow. Purple and blue, good for you.”

Where There is No Doctor – Covers all aspects of people’s health ranging from diarrhea to malaria and bone fractures and ringworm. Special emphasis is placed on hygiene, a healthy diet and vaccinations, and the book explains to readers what they can do themselves and how to prevent, recognize and treat many common sicknesses. Remember we talked about what makes a good niche for an authority blog above – huge demand and rabid buyers, lots of products on sale with affiliate programs, big online communities, lots of influential people and advertisers.

Why do I rate binoculars in the Top 10 Survival Gear? Not only do binoculars help hunters spot game animals — they help people lost in the wilderness identify distant features in the terrain, sometimes saving several miles of needless travel. Misreading the terrain can bring a person to the edge of a cliff or canyon or to a river that is simply to dangerous to cross. Now you have to turn back.

This is a well-known home remedy for burns and some wounds, but few people know that their tooth paste can help treat bug bites as well. This is because they have properties that will help sooth any itchiness or pain that most bug bites cause. They will also help reduce any swelling that might result from the bites.

Cotton balls and Vaseline. Vaseline is useful for chapped lips but, more importantly, when you tear the cotton balls and mix them with the Vaseline, the result is very flammable and will burn smoothly and for a long duration. This is great for making torches and starting fires. Do not use on burns!

What is a negative is the helplessness others feel when they read these blogs and see there is know way than achieve many of the qty’s of supplies and possibly having a another home to run to. Many people feel conquered already and try to make it week to week let alone stock supplies for an uprising.

Flee the TV: Psychologists have found that people who don’t watch TV are more accurate judges of
everyday risks and rewards than those who follow fearmongering news programs and that even thinking about politics can slash your overall happiness. Their advice: Try a news fast for one week and see how little you miss.

Please note how difficult it can be making a fire through traditional survival & bushcraft techniques like rubbing sticks together. While I wholeheartedly recommend you practice and aim to perfect these no-gear-needed fire-making skills, I also recommend you not depend solely on your ability to make a fire in this way if it’s at all possible. At least do your best to carry a fire steel on you as a backup, especially considering how hard it can be to light a fire in wet/humid conditions.

It’s the same with quite a bit of the gear on this list as well. Sure it’s helpful to have a firesteel, but if you don’t know how to make sparks from it, it’ll be rendered practically useless. You’ll want to at least test out a lot of the gear you have to make sure you’ll know how to use it when you need to, and you’ll also want to use the gear so you’re sure it won’t break on you when you need it the most.
