I enjoyed the read and you have some great content. I recently launched a blog where I review survival tools at: SummitGeneration.com if anybody would be interested in checking it out. I believe the survival tool market will be a perfect one to enter especially with the depopulation predictions within the United States. deagel.com/country/United-States-of-America_c0001.aspx.

Fess up. Tell your doctor how needles make you feel; she might have you lie down to avert wooziness. (Seriously, make sure you tell the truth—here are some common lies patients tell their doctors all the time.)

If your Zippos or flintlock lighters have run out, keep them because you can still use it to make fire. There’s usually cotton inside these types of lighters. Take them out and use the flint to create a spark. The cotton is usually so dry it will catch fire easily.

It is astounding to think of how many injuries, accidents, and even fatalities could be prevented on a yearly basis if outdoor survivors were to simply acknowledge the importance of creating a safe and sound shelter.

Let’s hope you won’t be dealing with any “127 Hours” situations, but severe bleeding can be a real problem when trudging around in the unknown. Arterial bleeding is the most severe, characterized by bright-red, pulsating blood flow.

To keep hunting pressure to a minimum, consider bow hunting due to the fact that gun shots can spook wildlife. The draw back to hunting with a bow is that bow hunting requires a lot of time learning how to shoot correctly — but it can be done and may be well worth the effort in the end for long term survival.

The UST StarFlash mirror has a star shaped sighting lens, to make it even more user friendly. Look through the lens at your signal target. Sweep the mirror VERY slowly right to left, and up and down. This will sweep the beam across your target, and the lens will glow when you’ve aimed the beam correctly.

John’s workshop answered a lot of my questions -and questions I didn’t know I had, about the business side of commercial photography. He runs you through a job from start to finish. He starts with how to market yourself to the work you want, bidding for the job, running all the way to how to thank your client at the end of a great shoot. He shows you how to be the best photographer and business manager you can be. This isn’t to mention all of the real world insights he slips in. The information is worth it all by itself, but the relationships you’ll build and the fun you have will simply put the whole experience over the top!

Nuclear winter, the robopocalypse—heck, just a simple camping trip gone wrong could leave you trapped in the merciless grip of nature’s fury, with nothing but your own wits and the questionable advice of this list to get you out alive.

This is a sample outbreak journal: the author notes covered-up zombie outbreaks seen on the local news as well as the preparations he recommends in the event that the outbreak worsens. The following pages are blank entries, for the reader to use as a basis for his or her own notes on surviving zombies.

The Zombie Survival Guide, written by American author Max Brooks and published in 2003, is a survival manual dealing with the fictional potentiality of a zombie attack. It contains detailed plans for the average citizen to survive zombie uprisings of varying intensity and reach, and describes cases of zombie outbreaks in history, including an interpretation of Roanoke Colony. The Zombie Survival Guide was also featured on The New York Times Best Seller’s list.[2] Brooks’ inspiration for The Zombie Survival Guide was his childhood interest in zombies, sparked by the first zombie movie he ever saw, circa age 10: Revenge of the Zombies (1943).[3]

Of course, when you’re planning out what you’re going to eat after a SHTF situation takes place, you should also be planning out how to cook that food as well. No good having canned goods if you haven’t thought of a way to get those cans opened without spilling their contents.

With a good set of binoculars you’re going to be able to see greater detail at further distances and with less eye strain than a cheap pair. Cheap binoculars are for your kids in the backyard looking at birds — not hunting game at far distances or traveling through the wilderness.

It does what it’s supposed to…no more and no less. It’s an emergency knife that can be carried discreetly in your wallet until you need it. It seems sharp enough and once the handle is folded stays in place so you don’t have to worry about cutting yourself. It’s not heavy-duty and not as easy as a regular pocket knife, but it’ll do well enough in a pinch.

For serious wounds, shirt sleeves can be cut off and used as bandages if necessary. Remember to only tie them around a wound so that they are still loose enough to stick one or two fingers between the bandage and the appendage/body.
