That is a big statement. That is also what I see so many people searching for, especially in contrast with the superficial values of our degenerative, consumeristic, capitalistic, western society. Perhaps more than anything else, wilderness survival served as the doorway to a deep and profound experience of connection, and meaning to my life. I’ve discovered along the way that my passion and purpose is to mentor others into that same profound sense of connection, belonging, and meaning that comes through wilderness survival and deep nature connection, ultimately guiding them to their deepest calling.

Tip: Worried about dangerous wildlife on the ground? Are you in shape for climbing trees easily? Consider hanging your Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock 20 or 30 feet off the ground. You’ll be out of reach of any predators on the forest floor below. Secure rope 2 – 3 feet beneath the hammock, running parallel to the hammock, and use this rope to help you enter and exit your hammock.

Don’t get me wrong; it is entirely understandable! However, if you want to get out of the situation, you must rely on sound judgment. If you are agitated, overly anxious or panicking, your brain will not think properly.

Survival Guide provides a solid grounding in the business of photography – including branding, marketing, and the dirty little secret in photography – pricing. But it’s also a workshop that doesn’t neglect the creative aspect of photography. Instead, it encourages you to think of yourself in new ways as a working photographer. It encourages you to refine your vision, both in how you make photographs, and how you market them.

Right size: If you are planning to walk a lot, remember that your feet are going to get a bit swollen. In that case, your shoes need to fit correctly. Anticipate the situation and choose your shoe size accordingly.

When it comes to the blogosphere there always seems to be a group of blogs, like individuals, that stand out from the crowd and provide great content and a lot of influence. In the survival and preparedness community this is no exception.

When you get to a water source, you’ll want to filter it, purify it and put some in a bottle. Because you rarely know how far the next water source is and a water bottle keeps you hydrated between sources.

This lovely tale comes from our very own island of Britain. Bear needed to swim to the mainland after finding himself stranded on an island. He had to swim, but in those freezing waters, quite possibly wouldn’t have made it the short distance.

From the definition of Λ ( t ) {\displaystyle \Lambda (t)} , we see that it increases without bound as t tends to infinity (assuming that S(t) tends to zero). This implies that λ ( t ) {\displaystyle \lambda (t)} must not decrease too quickly, since, by definition, the cumulative hazard has to diverge. For example, exp ⁡ ( − t ) {\displaystyle \exp(-t)} is not the hazard function of any survival distribution, because its integral converges to 1.

  1. The work I loved so much became a 24 hour living hell and when I couldn’t stand it anymore I decided to find another job. As soon as I made that choice I was free and exhilarated! It was time to get out and move on.

More popularly known as paracord bracelets (because they’re made from the same material as military issued parachutes and equipment), these bands are more than just accessories. They’re actually cords that are woven together, which you can unravel and use partly whenever you need the cords to tie stuff up. Almost every single piece of the paracord bracelet is usable string – right to the small threads that are used to keep the end of the cords together. Use them to tie stuff, hang food, set up traps, and even as tinder to start fires.
