I will be curious of your opinion about this… Do you believe that there is an increasingly two tiered economy / society? The “Haves” and the “Have Nots”? If yes, are you increasingly concerned as it relates to your security and preparedness? To what extent might this two tiered society …

I just want the items I ordered before I die. If you can have something here within 2 weeks on other orders it shouldn’t ever be a month on any others. If something is on backorder then don’t sell it, or at least tell the customer it’s on backorder and it might be a while before you get it before the customer spends their hard earned money on something they could get somewhere else within days. That’s how you earn respect and trust, that’s how you build a business; on the trust and respect of your customers. Make sure you save and keep up with your emailed receipts and order numbers; if you don’t get one then email them ASAP and ask for it.

If your Zippos or flintlock lighters have run out, keep them because you can still use it to make fire. There’s usually cotton inside these types of lighters. Take them out and use the flint to create a spark. The cotton is usually so dry it will catch fire easily.

A simple “Do it Yourself” net that can be made out of any type of cordage or string. This net is awesome as a gill net for fishing, a net for trapping birds and can be used as a makeshift bag to hold items. Make it with para-cord for a net that can be used …

The water from swamps, even after they’ve been purified, can still smell really dodgy. To remedy this, add some charcoal to the water while it’s being boiled. Not only does this add to the purification process, but it also makes the water taste much more drinkable and jettison the bad smell.

Keep a pocket knife, or multi-tool with you at all times, because you never know when you will need it- and when you do need it, you will rejoice that you have something to cut, protect and prepare food- even if all you have is a crappy, little knife. Now just learn how to sharpen it like MacGuyver.

Survival Life I have ordered items form them last year at http://survivallife.com/credit-card-knife/. They adverstised it as free and all I paid was the shipping cost. Yesterday (13 March 2015) I saw that I’ve been billed for $19.95 – doesn’t say what it’s for but I am positive I signed up for NOTHING else. Austin Texas

P ( T ≤ t 0 + t ∣ T > t 0 ) = P ( t 0 < T ≤ t 0 + t ) P ( T > t 0 ) = F ( t 0 + t ) − F ( t 0 ) S ( t 0 ) . {\displaystyle P(T\leq t_{0}+t\mid T>t_{0})={\frac {P(t_{0}t_{0})}}={\frac {F(t_{0}+t)-F(t_{0})}{S(t_{0})}}.}

When it comes to multi-tools, Leatherman is the undisputed champ. And this survival tool, in particular, with nineteen different tools, will keep you in the game. It has everything from a saw to an electrical crimper on there, and to show you that they’re serious, Leatherman gives you a 25-year (!) guarantee.

An SOS signal is the universal call for help. You can cause the signal using the light as well as sound. The message consists of three dots followed by three dashes followed by three dots. If you’re using light, an SOS signal would be three short bursts of light followed by three long bursts followed by three more short bursts. The same logic applies if you are using sound. Make sure that you practice the signal before you need to use it.

In arctic or alpine areas, survival kits may have additional cold weather clothing (winter hats and gloves), sleeping bags, chemical hand warmer packets, sun glasses/snow goggles, snowshoes, a collapsible shovel, a snare wire for small animals, a frying pan, a camp stove, camp stove fuel, a space blanket, matches, a whistle, a compass, tinder, medical equipment, a flint strike, a wire saw, extra socks and a tent designed for arctic use.

I too bought 3 survival life slingshots with holsters and a pack of fifty pellets each, one for myself, 1 my son and 1 for my grandson. I also bought an extra pack of 50 pellets. I received three slingshots several weeks late with only one pack of pellets. I also…

Anyone new to precious metals must learn the differences between numismatic and bullion coins. Both have their purposes, for investors and for preppers. The values of bullion coins are based almost entirely on their precious metals content. Their melt value is tracked in real time in the global markets, all in terms of troy ounces. In contrast, numismatic coins have both melt value and collector’s value. Judging the market value of bullion coins is simple arithmetic. But the prices numismatics are far more difficult to gauge. This takes study of rarity and relative values, study of the science of coin grading, study of standard annual references, and consultation of current rare coin market prices in detailed publications such as the Grey Sheet and Blue Sheet. There are many complexities that I won’t delve into here in this brief essay. Just suffice it to say, the word complex is an understatement. My general advice is that unless you are willing to do considerable study, then skip rare coins altogether, and only buy bullion coins or pre-1965 non-numismatic “junk” U.S. circulated silver coins.

One of the best sites out there related to wilderness survival skills, and number 7 in our list, is Ron Fontaine’s Survival Topics. Instead of just regurgitating things found in survival books, Ron follows a very similar approach that I do in that he practices and talks about things that he tries/uses/experiments with personally.

The Cox PH regression model is a linear model. It is similar to linear regression and logistic regression. Specifically, these methods assume that a single line, curve, plane, or surface is sufficient to separate groups (alive, dead) or to estimate a quantitative response (survival time).

Dr. Jonathan Quick, a medical doctor and one of the world’s top health professionals claims that the conditions are perfect for a new superbug in the form of a killer flu virus pandemic.  Quick also believes that this pandemic could kill upwards of 33 million people in just 200 days.

One of the biggest reasons more preppers don’t transition to homesteading is that they don’t have a way to earn a living while being off-grid. Homesteading usually means living in a rural area, which means many people can’t keep their normal jobs. That’s why I wrote this blog post showing you 5 simple ways anyone… Read More

All yer apps! Y IN HELL WOULD I BUY? YOU HAVENT FIXED THE LANDSCAPE MODE IN THE PRO VERSION! None of your apps do landscape IN ALL VIEWS, get on it! NOT JUST READING VIEW, that’s FUBAR!! Then I will pay. Also, ALL pictures must be zoomable – currently only two sizes, and that doesnt work. Nobody would b able to read the tiny printing in illistrations – is thatstanding line? As in dead line, correct?

Build a fire. Build a good-sized fire with sufficient coals to stay hot for many hours, and make sure that you have plenty of extra dry wood. Start the fire before you think you need it, even if the weather is warm; fires are easier to make under easy conditions than in a panic as the sun sets – to say nothing of the fact that having a fire nearby will give you a sense of comfort and safety as you get your bearings.

This was the first survival kit that I’ve bought, so I can’t compare it to others on the market, but it seems to be a well-put-together survival kit. The plastic compartment is made of durable material, although, I wouldn’t count on it being watertight. The rubber gasket on the lid doesn’t seem to seal against the base well enough to make it fully waterproof. Inside, it holds just about everything needed to survive a couple nights out in the woods if you get stranded or lost. With much success, I lit a fire with the sparker and tinder-quik cotton fire starters on the first spark! The knife is really neat; it has a built in high-intensity LED light, with a switch, pointed in the direction of the knife blade to help you see as you are cutting or carving at night, and it has an integrated whistle on the rear to alert a near-by rescuer of your approximate position. In the bottom portion of the container, there’s some fishing tackle, small diameter cord, and steel line that can be used for fishing, traps, snares, and shelters. The top portion contains literature on wilderness survival techniques, a large signal mirror, and how-to guide for the kit. I use the signal mirror to see when I’m putting my contacts in my eyes and to put on camoflauge face paint for hunting. This is a great compact survival kit for any backpacker!

It does what it’s supposed to…no more and no less. It’s an emergency knife that can be carried discreetly in your wallet until you need it. It seems sharp enough and once the handle is folded stays in place so you don’t have to worry about cutting yourself. It’s not heavy-duty and not as easy as a regular pocket knife, but it’ll do well enough in a pinch.

Let’s hope you won’t be dealing with any “127 Hours” situations, but severe bleeding can be a real problem when trudging around in the unknown. Arterial bleeding is the most severe, characterized by bright-red, pulsating blood flow.
