Thank you for this, it’s great. We’re going to be putting together a first aid/medical kit list sometime in the future, and I’ll definitely take that first list into account when we get around to posting that. It’ll be really helpful.
His novels tend to be heavy on acronyms and technical jargon, while his non-fiction books concentrate on practical skills and tools. In the Acknowledgments note to his book Tools For Survival, Rawles credits David Brin, Algis Budrys, Tom Clancy, Bruce D. Clayton, Colonel Jeff Cooper, Frederick Forsyth, Pat Frank, Gordon Dickson, Friedrich Hayek, Henry Hazlitt, Ernest Hemingway, Dean Ing, Elmer Keith, Herbert W. McBride, Ludwig von Mises, Dr. Gary North, Arthur W. Pink, John Piper, Jerry Pournelle, Ayn Rand, Lew Rockwell, Murray Rothbard, George R. Stewart and Mel Tappan as influential to his writing. In his blog, Rawles also cites Robert A. Heinlein as an influence, and often quotes him.
Ordered tactical pen +3 on Oct 11,2016 and over a month now still nothing. Never recieved confirmation of order nor shipping info. I’ve emailed them again today regarding this so let’s see if I finally get a real reply instead of an automatic one.
In a situation where there is a moderate to severe societal collapse, such as extensive civil unrest or major natural disaster (Katrina situation maybe?), and you have to scavenge for supplies, possibly with lesser regard to law; look at the billboards! Many of them are topped with solar panels about 3’X3′. And you’ll KNOW they also have the wiring and battery packs on board.
I have purchased several knives from survival life. The first knife I got, someone liked it better than I did and I was not a happy camper. I have given the knives to coworkers and each person likes them as much as I do! They are very sturdy, and well made. The smaller multi-tool is a great little get me out of trouble helper. The fire starters are going to be some stocking stuffers. The fire and fishing grenades are also neat. I will continue to purchase them when offered, even when the wife says that I have too many knives and toys.
This tip may sound silly, but trust me, it helped me a lot on camps. I have a small knife that I always keep in my survival pack. Unfortunately, the knife is brown and black in color. If I drop it accidentally on the floor of the jungle, I waste valuable minutes finding it.

Beyond PLBs, Smith said a survival kit should include items like a map of the area, a compass, a space blanket, first aid, a flashlight or headlamp, and fire-starting supplies. He recommends keeping the essential stuff physically attached to your body in a pouch on your belt.

Dissimilarly to the British, the Nazis exemplify the power that propaganda possesses. Arguably more successful, due to their propaganda methods providing the platform for the regime’s assent and continued control of the nation, the Nazi’s incorporation of education into their propaganda apparatus and their superior use of symbols constituted for a more persistent outcome.
• Snow: The energy it requires for your body to absorb the water from snow is high. Instead of eating the snow, melt it first. This can easily be done over a fire or with a camp stove. If those aren’t options, use the sun. Accelerate the process by chopping up ice and hanging it in a water bag in direct sunlight. If there’s no sun, use your body’s heat.
Prepper Im a 13 year old survivalist/ prepper and ive been prepping since i was 3 so im not a beginner in this catagory. But this app i would recommend if you are a beginner but if you know way more than average do not get
NRA (National Rifle Association) memberships have skyrocketed in recent weeks since the mainstream media has been ramping up their anti-gun agenda. As the media continues to weaponize the news in the form of gun control propaganda, the NRA’s profiting continues to go up.

FireLaces are one of those pieces of gear you can wear every day. These are shoelaces with mini Ferro rods at the ends. Just loop the striker into the laces, and you’re shoes become a survival tool in their own right.
Working several thousand miles from one’s home country can lead to homesickness and a feeling of being disconnected from peers. Included in the guide are links to postdoctoral organizations in other countries and to organizations for international scientists in the United States. Other links direct one to information about career-advancing opportunities both in the United States and in other countries. Lastly, one can read the stories of those who have already experienced life as a postdoc in the United States. Been There, Done That! contains anecdotes and advice from seasoned veterans who have come to the United States to do a postdoctoral fellowship.
I understand it’s not the same business model as TIWIB, but the numbers just don’t add up in my head. Even with 270k email subscriptions, you’d have to blasting out promotions every single day, and have incredibly high conversion rates to make 1 million a month. The fact that this website is being used as a proof of concept to their marketing skills just adds to my suspicions.
Stay in one place. This not only increases your chances of being found, but also reduces the energy your body expends and the amount of water and food you will need. Hunker down and stay put. Chances are that someone will be looking for you, especially if you let someone know your plans. Also, if you’re with someone else, do not separate. Having strength in numbers will help you survive.
These are some excellent tips for sure! I will definitely be making separate B.O.B., home, car, etc. articles, but I wanted to have one that was just a huge list of kit people may have missed out on using with regards to just everything all at once. I know it’s a bit of a mess, but still hope it’s helpful to some to have the suggestions like this (a.k.a. all in one place). But yes! Definitely a good idea to have separation, which I will definitely do (eventually) with some new articles.
It’s a massive list for those who’d like to check their own self-made kits off in comparison to something comprehensive – to see if there’s anything they’ve missed that they may have wanted to take if only they’d remembered it.

Many generators can be bought to run on Diesel, and LPG, and Propane. While others have yet other flex fuel capabilities. Do your Research. The brand and its capabilities. The typical generator package has a motor, a generator and an electrical panel. The motor can be gas. It can be Diesel… steam etc. The generator part is nearly an electrical that is motor spun. Forgetting the electrical mumbo jumbo and setting it aside. The generator part is not really a high tech part. That said, it is better to get a generator that is designed for just that purpose. (Unless you are an Electrical Engineer of note do not DIY this) The electrical sensors and panel, and parts are where the electrical design engineer gets his say. And earns his pay… or not?

Flee the TV: Psychologists have found that people who don’t watch TV are more accurate judges of everyday risks and rewards than those who follow fearmongering news programs and that even thinking about politics can slash your overall happiness. Their advice: Try a news fast for one week and see how little you miss.
Another section, which could be useful to all international postdocs, is the A Quick Guide to Visas for International Postdocs. This section describes the variety of visas that most international postdocs use for entry into the United States. This is a highly relevant aid given the current state of flux in visa regulations. This section outlines the terminology (Do you know the difference between SEVIS and USCIS?) and has a comparison between the J-1 and H-1B visas.

With a bit of ingenuity you’ve built yourself a shelter that costs much less than a popular brand name tent and should be able to withstand more wear and tear and protect from rain and wind, even snow. In a time of collapse and evacuation, it also catches less attention than something bright blue or orange or yellow like a popular brand name tent.
Avoid eating mushrooms or berries you can’t recognise, no matter how hungry you are. It’s better to be hungry than to eat something poisonous. Many berries in the forest, especially white berries, are poisonous – and a great deal of even edible mushrooms need to be cooked first.

by Brian Ford The debate over the place of firearms in modern American society continues to rage, much as it has for decades. While many arguments focus on specific types of arms, some question … Continue Reading about The Positive Impacts of Law-Abiding Citizens Owning Firearms
Flint and steel are probably the oldest tricks to start a fire. All you need to do is strike the flint against the steel to make a spark. You can buy portable steel, and Flint sets cheap these days. You should probably invest in one of those; they cost less than your morning cup of coffee! And coffee isn’t going to save your life!
The rest of your ideas are awesome! The olive oil in a jar though. Some of your suggestions seem to be more relevant to a bug out situation, whereas the jar of oil is not. Very useful tip for a bug in situation though! Personally, I have lamps and lamp oil in stock for home use, plus emergency candles in my BOB.

Fiscal responsibility is gradually being returned to State budgets. Laws confirming our rights to home schooling, home birthing, home churching, freedom from forced vaccination, and Constitutional Carry (concealed carry of firearms without a permit), are steadily being enacted. Time and gradual demographic changes are on our side. The continuing in-flow of conservative and liberty-loving Christians and Jews from other states is unstoppable. We are winning, folks!
