I am a member of the emergency services. Although I haven’t had a need yet to use all of the items in the kit, I have found all of the items very well made, practical and durable. The kit takes up very little space in my kit bag, which is very important as there is limited space in it. I use the pen on a daily basis and have found it to be well balanced and well made. I carry it in my breast pocket at all times when on duty and it is comforting to know that if I have a need to break a car window in an emergency, I have the tool to do it instantaneously within reach. The torch is a good backup to the main torch that I carry on duty. It’s small size makes it easy to carry in my map pocket, so in the event that my primary torch fails, I have a reliable backup without taking up space on my duty belt. The card multitool is good quality and I actually carry it in my wallet. Again, it takes up very little space and is close at hand when I need it. The key ring torch is great for finding the keyhole in the door when I’m trying not to wake my wife by fumbling around looking for it when I come home from night shift. I have tested the striker and steel fire lighter and it works very well once the black paint coating has been scraped off. Although I haven’t needed to use the whistle, it certainly is loud and I’m sure could be heard from some distance. I’m somewhat old school, so I don’t have to rely on gps to find my way around. The compass is well made and the entire cost of the kit is less than what you’d pay for a similar ‘Silva’ or other brand compass. Overall I have found the kit to carry almost all of the items that you would need in a survival/emergency situation. The price of the kit pleased me the most. As I previously stated, many of the items in the kit, when bought singularly, cost more than the entire kit and as far as I can tell, there is no compromise or difference in the quality of the items. Overall I am very happy with the quality, practicality, size and most importantly the cost of the kit. I would recommend everyone to purchase one as you never know when the unexpected is going happen.
On cigarettes: the kinds in boxes wrapped in cellophane go stale fairly easily and quickly. Tobacco for cigarettes is sold in tin cans (size #5 I think) and often include rolling papers inside the can, but not filters. For many people, a non-filtered cigarette is better than no cigarette though. The tobacco stays fresher longer in a can (probably forever) and of course the can protects the tobacco better from the elements or from being squished than does cellophane.
I’ll have to take your word for it. I scrolled down through their FB page, but couldn’t find any offers. I signed up for their list and no offers yet (though I imagine they wait for an opportune time). I did see the member’s area offer of $19.95, which I’m assuming also contains upsells.
Make sure your emergency kit is stocked with the items on the checklist below. Most of the items are inexpensive and easy to find, and any one of them could save your life. Headed to the store? Download a printable version to take with you. Once you take a look at the basic items, consider what unique needs your family might have, such as supplies for pets, or seniors.
With periodic malfunctions in several store-bought compasses, including polarity issues, you want a compass you can count on. Learn proper care for a compass and how to protect polarity, as well as how it’s actually used in the field. Navigation is an essential survival skill; along with fire and water procurement and shelter building, navigating with a compass is a skill taught in Special Forces survival training as well as local survival schools in most areas.

Let’s do the math: At 2500 degrees, you should be able to ignite your tinder bundle and start a fire within just a few seconds. With 35 minutes of continuous burn time, that means you should be able to start approximately 150 – 200 emergency fires with just one small bottle of butane fuel.
Indeed, if you’re lost or injured, the right gear can mean the difference between a comfortable night spent outdoors and a cold one. Items like a whistle or a signal mirror can alter fate to issue rescue instead of abandonment.

WITHOUT A DOUBT, MY WOUNDED WARRIORS BRACELET EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS AS FAR AS QUALITY AND COMFORTABILITY. HOWEVER, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART WAS HOW MUCH ATTENTION IT HAS DRAWN TO THE EFFORTS OF THE WOUNDED WARRIORS PROJECT. I AM AN INDUSTRIAL SALES REP WHO IS ON THE ROAD, IN FRONT OF THE PUBLIC AND CLIENTS, ALL OF THE TIME. I HAVE BEEN AMAZED WITH THE INTEREST THIS BRACELET HAS CREATED AND, HOPEFULLY, ASSISTED WITH MORE SUPPORT FOR THE CAUSE.

It’s not a joke! It’s actually very real. That’s Coyote Peterson. He’s starring in a new show called Brave Wilderness. He and his crew had been using Survival Straps for some time, so they approached us a few months ago and asked if they could use them in the show. A few months back, he actually captured a 14-foot alligator with a Survival Strap. They’re the real deal.
Foolishly I “bought” a tactical pen on line from this company some three months ago. they duly debited my PayPal account but the item never arrived. To make matters worse the company through their agent CLICKBANK continue to debit my PP account on a monthly basis. This…
Moras are amazing. They’ve always impressed me – especially since they’re available for such low cost while they’re so damn valuable! Bics are perfect as well, and also bang for buck, you’re right they’re phenomenal and perform perfectly for lighting fires. Wigwam socks: doubt I’ll ever buy any others again. Socks made of anything but wool get ruined so damn easily.
In this publicity photo provided by Knot Creations, a Purple Awareness Ribbon Paracord Bracelet created by Melissa Duke is shown in Pleasant View, T.N. I understand that you’re going to expand the tools listing…may I suggest you research either homesteading sites or sustainability sites because without the tools to plant, harvest, and store their garden produce and the seeds (either saved or in form of a survival seed cache) necessary to replenish their food stores, a lot of people will be in trouble after that first year or two or three on their own passes. Not to mention the learning curve and the skills needed for those activities.
Still not convinced? Maybe this will soften your disposition. The Survival Straps company is partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project, and they raised $302,000 for WWP in 2011. Survival Straps has a goal of raising 1 million in 2012. At the time of writing this, they have raised $462,329. Great gear, great cause. No complaints out of me. Visit them at www.survivalstraps.com.
– Medical stuff – take the Quick clot off, I’m trained in how to use it, and I have had it used on me – it can cause more harm than good, the mil is taking it out of our IFACs because of this -use good old tampons and maxi pads instead.
These are often overlooked but are highly versatile. In addition to its intended use, a sanitary pad can be used as a bandage, it can be shredded and used as tinder, and it can be used to filter sediment from water.

I read once where a water tower was used to store water. Alas, this homeowner was thinking out of the box. The location was very remote. And being frail he dreaded trying to carry heavy deep cycle batteries.
Prepper gear should also include at least basic first aid supplies and medicine. Though the medicine you can stockpile could never be enough to remedy each and every situation, having a basic first aid kit and some standard medicine will typically get you through a great deal of difficult situations.
This to me seemed to explain-  one, why members of several species just die after laying eggs or after mating. In some species such as ‘the preying mantis’, the female eats the head of the male once it finishes mating or rather once she is sure that the male has ‘fulfilled its purpose’. Second, when we see the life of certain kinds such as the dinosaurs or others which have become extinct, what can we consider their purpose as? I’d say they were just experiments of nature in the process to manufacture ‘fitter’ beings (evolution) capable of surviving its whims. Again- modify DNA to increase its chances of survival.
