We all experience hardships. Some people get through them with greater ease than others because of their attitude and choices. Their mindset propels them forward. They don’t let suffering run their lives and they work through the hard times, even when everything is falling down around them and they can’t seem to get a break.

The “important” people who live on the east and west coasts of the USA like to refer to the rest of the country as “flyover country”, because the only time they see it is when they fly over it while traveling from one coast to the other. That…

Let’s do the math: At 2500 degrees, you should be able to ignite your tinder bundle and start a fire within just a few seconds. With 35 minutes of continuous burn time, that means you should be able to start approximately 150 – 200 emergency fires with just one small bottle of butane fuel.

Gtranquility/ShutterstockA “brain freeze” occurs when nerves in the roof of your mouth tell your brain that it’s too cold; the brain, drama queen that it is, overcompensates by rushing warm blood into your head. How can you tell your big mouth to shut up?

Our site started off as a place to post for our family to learn and exchange ideas about survival skills. It expanded to include friends who want to learn what we were teaching. It has now become a place for all to learn long-term food prep, home canning, reloading ammunition and building weapons.

Find water: As the subjects of my stories know too well, you can last only about four days without water. To ward off dehydration, search for animals, birds (especially songbirds), insects (especially honeybees), and green vegetation, all of which can indicate that water is nearby. Rock crevices may also hold small caches of rainwater.

I purchased a credit card knife for a few bucks at http://survivallife.com/credit-card-knife/. I signed up for NOTHING else. Immediately after purchase they give you all of these internet marketing type offers (upsells). I declined all of them. Afterwards I see that I’ve been billed some sort of lamplighter society scam membership. The lamplighter society is some membership type scam.

P ( T ≤ t 0 + t ∣ T > t 0 ) = P ( t 0 < T ≤ t 0 + t ) P ( T > t 0 ) = F ( t 0 + t ) − F ( t 0 ) S ( t 0 ) . {\displaystyle P(T\leq t_{0}+t\mid T>t_{0})={\frac {P(t_{0}t_{0})}}={\frac {F(t_{0}+t)-F(t_{0})}{S(t_{0})}}.}

In addition, the kits may contain typical individual survival kit items, such as nylon tarps, extra clothes and coats, blankets, sleeping bags, matches or other fire starting equipment, a compass and maps, flashlights, toilet paper, soap, a pocket knife and bowie knife, a fishing kit, a portable camping stove, a power inverter, backpack, paper and pencil, a signaling mirror, whistle, cable saw, bleach, insect repellent, magnifying glass, rope and nylon cord, pulleys, and a pistol and ammunition.

• Snow: The energy it requires for your body to absorb the water from snow is high. Instead of eating the snow, melt it first. This can easily be done over a fire or with a camp stove. If those aren’t options, use the sun. Accelerate the process by chopping up ice and hanging it in a water bag in direct sunlight. If there’s no sun, use your body’s heat.

That is a big statement. That is also what I see so many people searching for, especially in contrast with the superficial values of our degenerative, consumeristic, capitalistic, western society. Perhaps more than anything else, wilderness survival served as the doorway to a deep and profound experience of connection, belonging, and meaning to my life. I’ve discovered along the way that my passion and purpose is to mentor others into that same profound sense of connection, belonging, and meaning that comes through wilderness survival and deep nature connection, ultimately guiding them to their deepest calling.

There is also advice for international postdocs for whom English is a foreign language.

I read SurvivalBlog daily and SHTFPlan occasionally. along with a few others. Your list me on to yet others of which I had previously been unaware. Thank you for that. With all this good info available, one could spend their entire waking hours reading prepping sites and gathering information. So here’s my question: If you spend all your time reading about prepping, when do you find time to actually do anything?

  1. As the probability of an individual surviving until age t or later is S(t), by definition, the expected number of survivors at age t out of an initial population of n newborns is n × S(t), assuming the same survival function for all individuals. Thus the expected proportion of survivors is S(t). If the survival of different individuals is independent, the number of survivors at age t has a binomial distribution with parameters n and S(t), and the variance of the proportion of survivors is S(t) × (1-S(t))/n.
    You will already see a tent shape. You can reinforce this tent skeleton by propping some more sticks to support the longer stick. Now, cover the tent with branches of trees and leaves to make a comfortable shelter.
