Those who get offended by you promoting something even though you’re giving them a ton of value upfront and for ‘free’ (it’s not really ‘free’ to create content, takes up a lot of time, effort and sometimes money) are probably not the sort of people you want as your audience anyway.

If your Zippos or flintlock lighters have run out, keep them because you can still use it to make fire. There’s usually cotton inside these types of lighters. Take them out and use the flint to create a spark. The cotton is usually so dry it will catch fire easily.

Lifeboat survival kits are stowed in inflatable or rigid lifeboats or life rafts; the contents of these kits are mandated by coast guard or maritime regulations. These kits provide basic survival tools and supplies to enable passengers to survive until they are rescued. In addition to relying on lifeboat survival kits, many mariners will assemble a ditch bag or abandon ship bag containing additional survival supplies. Lifeboat survival kit items typically include:

To help with this potential catch-22, the guide contains advice and options for more easily obtaining a credit card and building a credit history in So, Nobody Will Give You a Credit Card?.
A cautionary note about that pool shock: it is extremely hazardous (once opened)…it’ll eat through metals and (some) plastics and should be kept from moisture because that is what ‘activates’ it…wear gloves (the kind), get an MSDS (manufacturer’s safety data sheet) from the internet and store it AWAY from your food supplies. If there are curious little ones in the vicinity, make sure you keep it locked up.
Snaring can be an excellent way to trap small animals while you are away building your shelter. However, it is important to know where to set up the traps. You can set the traps in places where you can see the animals running around. You can also hear small rodents and squirrels. It is even better if you are near a water body.

As we discussed above, staying warm is your priority. Adding insulation to your clothing is always a welcome idea. Dry leaves on the floor of the woods make excellent insulators. All you need to do is stuff them into your jacket. They form an insulating layer between your body and the outside cold air, trapping your body heat.
Since the dawn of man, weapons have been a priority for hunting and defending ourselves. With hungry, large predators and other humans ready to attack, self-defense was vital. In addition, weapons … [Read More…]
I received mine a couple of days ago and was surprised at the quality of this kit. I have bought a ton of other survival kits in the past and was almost always satisfied with them even after doing research on them. I don’t know if the battery on top of the knife died that powers the flashlight but the LED light was super dim. Dim as in, I tried using in in total darkness and couldn’t see anything, not even the knife. The compass had a lot of air bubbles in it and it doesn’t even give a correct reading. I tried holding it in my hand, putting it on level surfaces and still it wouldn’t give a correct reading. I would move the compass about 5 inches to the left or right and the directional arrows would turn randomly 180degrees even though I didn’t rotate it or anything. The clasp that closes the kit together snapped off the first day. Also, the run channels that make the kit waterproof aren’t fully aligned because there are gaps when I would close the kit before the main clasp broke off. I am not happy with this profuct. Maybe I got a defective one (a lemon) but I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone and will not buy it in the future.
I learnt that different people have different dreams, their purpose of life might be to achieve those dreams. This might make them happy. Others find happiness in helping others or loving others. I’d say that we can let ours have our own purpose. Whatever makes us happy is our purpose.

Finding yourself in a survival situation can be extremely unsettling. I mean it’s not like you practice getting in such cases every day, right? Most people can get very nervous and panic in situations like these. This outdoor survival skill can alone save your life in many situations.
Wilderness survival sometimes calls for being found — that includes in a time of collapse as well. Perhaps you’ve put together a camp in a remote location. Whatever circumstances take place where you’re now cooperating with other people for survival, tasks related to hunting, scouting, and scavenging can mean you have to split off from the group at times.
One tool I keep in all my survival bags is a small folding brush saw. I originally bought one at my local hardware store for de-limbing some small trees on my property line. I found that for cutting brush, limbs, even small trees it’s quicker requires less effort and is much quieter than any bladed tool I have. It’s also inexpensive, lightweight and fits easily in the side pocket of any backpack I own.

Tips: Bring along an extra stuff sack, like you’d carry a sleeping bag in, and use it to carry your tarp shelter when it’s time to break camp and move to a new location. Roll up your tarp and then cinch it tight with paracord or rope. Have a few stakes with you to use as ground anchors for your tent.
One such person said that the purpose of life was ‘to love and be loved’. At first I thought it to be naive and stupid and did not even give it a second thought. Then I wondered about why an educated person would put forward such a simplistic and spiritually motivated reason among a set of extremely logical and convincing reasons given by others. It was then I started thinking about this seemingly illogical purpose of life.
You never know what’s inside a stream or river. It has all sorts of stuff that you probably don’t want in your system. Grab a sock and fill them with charcoal. Follow it up with a layer of sand and then finally a layer of grass. The grass will catch the large particles in the water while the sand will filter out the fine granules. The charcoal will purify the water of any harmful chemicals.
