With a bit of ingenuity you’ve built yourself a shelter that costs much less than a popular brand name tent and should be able to withstand more wear and tear and protect from rain and wind, even snow. In a time of collapse and evacuation, it also catches less attention than something bright blue or orange or yellow like a popular brand name tent.

Prepper gear should also include at least basic first aid supplies and medicine. Though the medicine you can stockpile could never be enough to remedy each and every situation, having a basic first aid kit and some standard medicine will typically get you through a great deal of difficult situations.
“This is the story of baby Anthony, who endured survival at its earliest and rawest form and conquered and beat the odds of survival after being born 15 weeks premature. On April 5th, 2013 our friends Teila and Chris gave birth to their baby boy, Anthony, 25 weeks into their pregnancy (15 weeks early, expected due date of July 18th, 2013). The doctors informed them of the chances of survival, one that I think we all had a good idea of: the outlook of survival was not good but also not impossible. As the days moved forward and only a few close friends and family knew of the birth, my wife and I could only stand by and help comfort the parents as much as the hospital allowed while Anthony was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). My wife visited regularly and often, while I stayed home to watch our own 1 year old daughter and visited when I could.
I’ve taken the time to organize the gear into different categories for your convenience: to make browsing much easier. Check out the list and tell us if there’s anything you think you should add to your own personal list of survival gear!

On a budget European trip with his wife, Tim Leatherman found he never had the right tools for quick fixes from roadside breakdowns to faulty hotel plumbing. Because what he needed didn’t exist, he returned to the United States to build the multi-tool he wanted. Eight years and many rejections later, he finally had a tool he was proud of. And in 1983 with the first order of 500, the Leatherman Tool Group, Inc. was born.

  1. I think you’re a little short on security. I wouldn’t dream of bugging out or trying to survive post-TEOTWAWKI without a good handgun (or two) in 9mm Parabellum, a rifle in 5.56/223 Remington (whether AR or otherwise), and at least a 308 bolt action for longer range/harder hits.
Love the kit! Comes with lots of great items that need to be in any survival kit! Good starter kit that you can personalize to fit your own needs. The bag it comes in is a little cheap, IMO. Zippers are a bit difficult to work with, but all in all, I am happy with the purchase!
Advertising – companies paying money to advertise. A sign of a healthy market if people are willing to spend to gain customers. Influential People & Big Names – well known people in the niche, big brands, niche stores with lots of followers, big name bloggers, people with huge social media followers and so on.
Hellava list, Elise! Way too much for my brain to handle. 🙂 The Mora Companion goes with me in the woods as a neck knife and for finer bushcraft tasks. Though it’s not full tang, mine has taken a lot of abuse and keeps performing admirably. I plan on shaving with it in the bush one day.
You’re in the wild and you have enough food to last you an entire week. That’s great news. The bad news: there are bears or raccoons sharing the wild with you, and they’re just as happy to eat your food as you are.
