Another premade kit that knocked it out of the park. What a genius design! Who would have thought of outfitting a survival kit both inside and outside. Even better, there was a little room left over to add a couple of things on the inside. Although I enjoy putting Altoids survival tins myself, I couldn’t pass this one up. I’m glad I didn’t.

I’ve been watching posts and attempting to keep track of how things are going in the CA north bay — they’re in need of LOTS of help and probably will be for a while. I’m wishing I were there physically to contribute, but since I’m not, I’m donating to the cause. Thanks to HenHouse Brewing Company for helping me decide where to send some money — this is from their page: Redwood Credit Union is a local institution working with our local State Senator to get funds to the right people. RCU did a similar donation portal for the Lake County Fire in 2015 and we know Senator Mike McGuire well, this is an excellent way to help. https://www.redwoodcu.org/northbayfirerelief

Animal bones can be used as weapons: When it comes to the bones, you can fashion small weapons that you can use to hunt or fish. After all, animal bones were one of the first weapons of our prehistoric ancestors!

Photo by purolipanFor flexibility, a good multi-tool is a camper’s best friend, and there are hundreds of models on the market. When comparing the need for different functions and the tool’s weight, it becomes apparent that simpler is better. Look for a multi-tool that has a regular and serrated blade, pliers with a wire cutter, carbide knife sharpener, bottle and can opener, and a lanyard loop. Pay close attention to the materials and quality; look for titanium handles, 154CM steel blades, and 420 stainless steel construction. If you plan on carrying a small hatchet for cutting firewood, consider a multi-tool hatchet and take one tool instead of two.

In actuarial science, the hazard rate is the rate of death for lives aged x. For a life aged x, the force of mortality t years later is the force of mortality for a (x + t)–year old. The hazard rate is also called the failure rate. Hazard rate and failure rate are names used in reliability theory.

Dr. Jonathan Quick, a medical doctor and one of the world’s top health professionals claims that the conditions are perfect for a new superbug in the form of a killer flu virus pandemic.  Quick also believes that this pandemic could kill upwards of 33 million people in just 200 days.

Don’t be a hero. Lower the crossbow TV zombie fighters favor; the infected are still your neighbors. Take every precaution not to kill one another while the government works on distributing a vaccine and treating patients.

I ordered that item on Dec. 6/16 and have order # 5FR74DEN from Survivallife.com and sent them multiple e-mails which they have answered a few but the 2 they have not bothered. So here they are listed below.

This wilderness survival guide wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging this; hands down, skills are much more important than gear when it comes to wilderness survival. You can buy and collect all the best gear in the world, but what happens if you forget it? Or lose it? Or use it up? Then you’ll be relying on yourself – your skills. With that said, it is still good to learn about wilderness survival gear and put together a wilderness survival kit. Just don’t’ depend on it.

Not every state is friendly towards homesteaders, which can make going off-grid even more difficult than it already is. You’ll have a much easier time if you homestead in a state that has favorable laws and natural resources for homesteaders. There aren’t any “perfect” states for homesteaders because every state government wants to dictate how… Read More

Over two years ago, I was getting geared up for a month of camping with OkieRhio out in Oklahoma. During one of our trips out to Knight’s Rest, we were talking about family and our experiences with epilepsy, and I opened up to her about a member of m…

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, has come out saying that the United States is on a collision course with mass chaos and civil unrest. History has proven that there’s only so much oppression human beings can stand before they cease complying with those who seek to control them.

I thought the same thing, at first. The thirty pages is the table of contents. Look on the left side of your screen. You click on each chapter, and only those pages are shown. I hope this makes sense.

I ordered the Hoffman Richter Talon knife for $24.95 with a promised delivery date of 7-12 business days. I called for status at the 18 business day mark and was told the order was misplaced. They said my money will be refunded, but we’ll see. Although they list an Austin, Texas physical address and a phone number with the correct Austin, Texas exchange (512), the number connects to a customer service contractor company in the Philippines.

Tip: Also purchase roadside flares and keep on hand for an emergency calling for a fast fire. Flame-producing hand held roadside flares like Orion Safety Flares are different than the ones above and not fired from a gun. Carry these in your vehicle and take a couple on your next hiking trip packed safely in a waterproof container — these can be used to start a fire in wet conditions also, with very little work.

Take a small piece of cloth and shove it in a metal box or a container. Make sure that the container is sealed and throw it in the fire. Let the container burn in the fire for a few minutes. Remove it from fire and let it cool. If you did it right, the cloth inside would be completely black but not burnt. This cloth is called a char cloth. It catches fire with the smallest of sparks!

I sent it on 2011-01-18, I did not mean to infer that you should vouch for my book if you didn’t read it. I was (you said your sorry so not any more) angry that you didn’t read it after I sent you one for free.

By this point you should be pretty confident that you have what it takes to survive in the wild—so let’s up the stakes. You’re not just trapped out in the wilderness, now; you’re behind enemy lines, and you have to survive without letting the enemy know where you are. Obviously a fire is out of the question—or is it? A Dakota fire hole might be just what you need.

A second catastrophe promises to follow in the foot steps of a first — it’s a catastrophic food shortage. The time to prepare for that is now. Lessons passed down by expert preppers on storing up emergency food on a budget…

I’m about to buy that WSO you linked to. Because I’m seriously considering starting a doomsday website. Do you think it’s a good idea? I’m just a little nervous about even the smallest investment given my budget. I guess the biggest investment is TIME into the site. But hopefully I can figure out how to do things. :/

Needs jungle/woods update The game doesn’t have water procurement and like that for jungles or wooded areas. I haven’t had to buy anything but there’s multiple copies of this app that say the same things this one does. I would give it 5 stars if it had an update or an addition to it.

Sorry Ohio. I’m on my IPhone and didn’t see your response before I replied. Have at it. If you get tired part way through, let me know and I can give you my email and take over for the last half 🙂 I’m one of those kids with teachers for parents. I had no choice but to be an “editor” 🙂 🙂

If you’re out of water and, crucially, still somewhat hydrated, drinking your own urine can keep you alive. This is because relatively clear urine will hydrate you, but if it’s brown and thick, it’s just waste and won’t help at all.

Ms. Bishop’s blog is the advertising front for her husband’s products, often without any disclaimer. She flip flops on her own survival recommendations, based on his latest product or venture (which always gets a glowing review).

It’s about creating a site that keeps people engaged, gets them clicking and lowers bounce rate and if you read about SurvivalLife over on DigitalMarketer.com you’ll see them talk about how they initally went with a really clean design similar to Uncrate.com but their bounce rate was terrible so they made the site really messy and ugly and bounce rate dropped dramatically.
