Look, I had to include one big-baller survival tool, and it’s appropriate that it’s by Leatherman. This bracelet carries the Leatherman promise of quality (let’s note that 25-year guarantee again) but it also serves as a kickass and manly bracelet. A goddamn steel-tread bracelet. Wear it to the bar, wear it to work, wear it camping, wear it while you bone-down. Just, uh, be careful with that last one. That’s because this bracelet contains 29 screwdriver and wrench tools, along with a cutting hook, a bottle opener and even a sim card tool and glass breaker. Now that’s fashion.

Honestly, we thought it was fantastic. As a 2 person team, (photographer and business partner), we still found it super beneficial and in fact, I think it would be impossible for one person to go, and just ‘bring back’ the info. You had to be there to really get into everything. I think it also allowed me, as the business partner, to get a way better understanding and appreciation of the artistic side of what the photographer does, and understand better how much the assistant role and organizational role helps in allowing him the space to be creative. It really helped us both understand each other’s roles in a whole new perspective.
Round 75 ends on March 31st, so get busy writing and e-mail us your entry. Remember that there is a 1,500-word minimum, and that articles on practical “how to” skills for survival have an advantage in the judging.

To answer such questions, it is necessary to define lifetime. In the case of biological survival, death is unambiguous, but for mechanical reliability, failure may not be well-defined, for there may well be mechanical systems in which failure is partial, a matter of degree, or not otherwise localized in time. Even in biological problems, some events (for example, heart attack or other organ failure) may have the same ambiguity. The theory outlined below assumes well-defined events at specific times; other cases may be better treated by models which explicitly account for ambiguous events.
MCarper/ShutterstockWhen a ring threatens to cut off circulation to a swelling finger, you have to get that tiny tourniquet off any way you can, says James Hubbard, MD, MPH, author of The Survival Doctor’s Complete Handbook: What to Do When Help Is Not on the Way. Before you buy a ring cutter or draft an apology letter to your beloved, check your bathroom cabinet for dental floss. That little spool of string just might be your salvation. What to do:

Arguably more successful, due to their propaganda methods providing the platform for the regime’s assent and continued control of the nation, the Nazi’s incorporation of education into their propaganda apparatus and their superior use of symbols constituted for a more persistent outcome.

You can buy CR-123s by the hundred for about $20.00 on Amazon or Ebay. But unless space and weight are primary concerns, you’d be best off rechargeable lithium AA/AAA batteries that can be set up to a solar charger. Ebay sells some batteries with built in USB ports although ports are notoriously fragile on phones so keep that in mind. The justification for going with lithium despite the higher price compared to NiMH isn’t more “power” but rather the longer shelf-life. NiMH lose charge at a rate of something like 50% over six months vs 10% or less per month for Lithium.
