If you can spot bees, it is always a great sign. It means that not only there is a hive full of honey nearby, but also a water source. Bees are usually found within about 4-5-mile radius of a water body.

This knife has a 3.5-inch blade crafted from Sandvik 12C27 stainless-steel. The blade sits in a rubberized handle, which contains the hidden fire starter rod. The Swedish FireSteel firestarter is one of the best quality ferrocerium rods on the market. The cascade of 5,400°F sparks is plentiful and easy to strike, making it great for everyday campfire starting and survival purposes alike. Altogether, the knife, spark rod, and sturdy plastic sheath only weigh a little over 4 ounces. They are available in several color choices—I recommend the orange, red or pink color for safety and visibility.

Real binoculars are for the wilderness. Get yourself a pair of real binoculars. Outdoor Life rated several binoculars, most coming in at over $1000, with one priced at $2700. That is steep! But Outdoor Life did give a high rating to a cheaper pair — The Alpen Apex XP 8×42 is priced at about $300 and received Outdoor Life’s Great Buy tag. If you have the money to spend, sure, go ahead and spend top dollar, buy the best of the best. You will get more bang for your buck. But you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck as well with the Alpen Apex 8×42 for a lot less.

Glow sticks come in all shape, form, and colors. The ones you want are not those party things that you can wear like a necklace. You want to buy the ones that have a high light output. These glow sticks can last for years in your kit. However, it is advisable that you change them before they reach their expiration date.

As per the perspective of a human being, we are born, we grow old and older and die. Only a lucky few will live to be a hundred years old. When we are born, instead of viewing it as WE come into existence, let us switch our perspectives and think that the world comes into existence for us. And when we die, the world is no more for us. So, for us its only that 100 years of world with everything in it. After I am gone, there is no world because there is no ‘me’ to behold it. So, my purpose of life should be to enjoy and stay happy in those 100 years instead of worrying to make the world a better place.

The null hypothesis for a log-rank test is that the groups have the same survival. The expected number of subjects surviving at each time point in each is adjusted for the number of subjects at risk in the groups at each event time. The log-rank test determines if the observed number of events in each group is significantly different from the expected number. The formal test is based on a chi-squared statistic. When the log-rank statistic is large, it is evidence for a difference in the survival times between the groups. The log-rank statistic approximately has a chi-squared distribution with one degree of freedom, and the p-value is calculated using the chi-squared distribution.

The aluminium blankets or sheets added to your shelter will significantly increase your shelter’s heat retention capacity. Aluminium facing outward of the shelter can also reflect sunlight, allowing you to stay cooler under the shelter. Among the survivalist community, these are referred to as super shelters, and rightfully so.

Forget first class. A Popular
Mechanics study of 20 commercial jet crashes with both fatalities and survivors found that passengers seated in the rear cabin (behind the wings) had a 69 percent chance of survival, compared with just 49 percent for those in first class. If you truly fear flying, it’s worth giving up the legroom for some peace of mind in the rear.

It never fails that when you need a knife or cutting instrument the most there’s never a pocket knife around to help you out. That’s why we created the highly-effective, razor sharp, multipurpose credit card knife. At about the thickness of 2 credit cards, it is the ultimate portable knife.

Now just like most Johnny Rambo Wannabes, in my early dumb & naive military days I, too, use to pack & carry one of those super-duper wrist rocket slingshots to the field too. You know, just in case I had to hunt for my own food. And so I took mine with me wherever I went, the boonies, desert, jungles, mountains, everywhere!

The interesting thing about this Survival Life is it wasn’t created out of passion for the niche but instead because the Digital Marketer team saw an opportunity to create an authority site that had huge profit potential.

I’m going to attempt to express how grateful I am to this amazing group of people. I’ve just gotten back from a 10-day tour with Lungs and Limbs, who contacted me at the end of July and asked if I’d be interested in traveling with them up to Oregon and Washington for some shows. All I had to do was hop in the bus (pictured) with a bunch of strangers and hope that they weren’t too creepy/inconsiderate/angry/mean/sketchy for me to handle for 10 days. Fortunately, they’re so much more awesome than I would have ever hoped for! Lungs and Limbs are a group of laid-back, friendly, funny, intelligent, talented people who are excellent conversationalists (bonus on those long drives). They took a chance on me as well, inviting me into their home on the road, and I’m so thankful that they did. This tour made me feel like I was back in my natural habitat: traveling the open road in a big ol’ vehicle with a group of friends who become like family. We stayed at truck stops in the bus, slept on floors, made a Crossfit gym our home for a few days (thanks, Travis!), played an outdoor show in the rain, drank lots of coffee and met lots of great and/or wacky people. I would do it again in a second, so hopefully we’ll figure out getting Survival Guide and Lungs and Limbs back on the road together sometime next year. Love you, L&L!! You’re the best! And all of your songs are stuck in my head on repeat. ❤️

This wilderness survival guide wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging this; hands down, skills are much more important than gear when it comes to wilderness survival. You can buy and collect all the best gear in the world, but what happens if you forget it? Or lose it? Or use it up? Then you’ll be relying on yourself – your skills. With that said, it is still good to learn about wilderness survival gear and put together a wilderness survival kit. Just don’t’ depend on it.

I think I saw a line item for a Generator. I would like to add a few tid-bits if you are leaning that way. Don’t rush out after a large emergency and trying to get one (the unit or it and it installed). I would suggest a package that incorporates the off-the-grid craze ie solar and/or wind with the typical back-up power system. (Mainly for the Batteries)… IMO A proper system. First, it should be large enough to supply all of your electrical needs. (NOT WANTS). Second, it would be a multi-fuel; and multi-source system. If you just purchased an Electrical generator off the shelf. It has a really small fuel reservoir, and most runs on only one type of fuel. Gasoline.

These are absolutely excellent points about different ways of generating energy and how important storing the energy you have is! I actually think you put it wonderfully. You’re 110% correct, having all your eggs in one basket is never as good as having multiple forms of energy. Always great to have 2 or 3 backups, certainly. And storing generated energy is obviously equally as important as generating it.

I have to admit it, I LOVE wilderness survival. I first began learning wilderness survival out of a deep, primal need to feel in my bones that I could provide for my most basic human needs directly from nature. It seemed crazy to me that my life was totally dependent on a complex system of grocery stores, polluted highways, telecommunication systems, electric grids, modern structures, water treatment plants, and more. I mean, shouldn’t we all be able to be in direct relationship with our most primary needs? Perhaps idealistic, but that is what inspired me to begin my journey to become a wilderness survival guide over a decade ago.

Preventing water loss is vital, so protect yourself from the sun (you can work on your tan some other time). Dip cloths or a shirt in some water and drape them over you for cooling. When water is lacking on land, collect morning dew on plastic material, then transfer it to a container. If you don’t have a container, Hawke notes that a Ziploc bag can serve as a canteen. It is also possible to desalinate seawater.

According to the Survival Life website, membership to the Lamplighter society provides an easy, practical way of obtaining information related to survival preparedness, without having to spend years of trial and error. With this in mind, membership is claimed to provide the following benefits:

I remember when this humble blog first hit the net, in 2012. There was, at the time, an increase in interest in prepping. The show “Doomsday Preppers” capitalized on that interest, and also helped to spur it on. Over the … Continue reading →

YouTube censorship has taken an ugly turn.  Not long after the tech giant announced that their censorship agenda was because of overzealous new employees, Mike Adams (The Health Ranger) lost his entire channel consisting of 1700 videos.

Right now, conservatives have enough political power to prevent any substantial new gun control measures at the federal level. But liberal States, especially California, have been piling on the restrictions, working toward a complete ban as their true thinly-veiled goal. … Continue reading →

I’ve ordered several items from this company and have got exactly what I was promised. As some others have stated, the products were made in China but are what they promised. I feel I got a fair product for a fair price. I’ll watch for unexpected charges but have not had any so far. I’m happy with this company. And yes I would recommend them to friends. Also, I’ve order the HR30, the spy pen, the fire starter and a flash light and all came in good time and were decent products for what I paid.

We found the list to be quite extensive and inclusive of some of the best resources for preparedness planning on the internet. The websites have been ranked using a variety of metrics, including Google Pagerank, Incoming Links, and the Alexa Traffic ranking algorithm. Though these rankings don’t necessarily determine quality of content or of publishing, the fact that they have a high volume of visitors and incoming links suggests that people visiting the web sites find the information of benefit and consider the content to be informative and worthy of links from their own blogs or social network pages.

You can buy CR-123s by the hundred for about $20.00 on Amazon or Ebay. But unless space and weight are primary concerns, you’d be best off with rechargeable lithium AA/AAA batteries that can be set up to a solar charger. Ebay sells some batteries with built in USB ports although ports are notoriously fragile on phones so keep that in mind. The justification for going with lithium despite the higher price compared to NiMH isn’t more “power” but rather the longer shelf-life. NiMH lose charge at a rate of something like 50% over six months vs 10% or less per month for Lithium.

Ensure that your survival kit is up-to-date. Many items of your survival kits have an expiration date. Glow sticks and water purifying tablets go bad after a few years. Check the expiration dates of these items before you head out for your big expedition.

A smoke signal was one of the oldest ways to communicate long before the age of cell phones. You can use this method to attract attention to yourself. Creating a smoke signal is easy. All you need to do is burn something that will create a thick smoke, and the smoke will do the rest for you.

Stay in one place. This not only increases your chances of being found, but also reduces the energy your body expends and the amount of water and food you will need. Hunker down and stay put. Chances are that someone will be looking for you, especially if you let someone know your plans. Also, if you’re with someone else, do not separate. Having strength in numbers will help you survive.

I’ve been waiting almost 30 days now on 4 different orders, about 10 days on another order, and have only recieved 2 orders out of the orders I have placed. They say the items are on back order, but they still send emails every day trying to sell the same items they say are on backorder. I’m completely disappointed in Survival Life; their shipping is downright awful and just a slap to the face. Do they not want your repeated business?

Good point! I definitely need to add the pool shock to the list, and entertainment in general needs a separate category methinks! There are lots of little things you can have at home that would help with that (Bananagrams comes to mind too, for instance, especially for just at home and not taking it in a pack or anything).

Hey Abdul, thanks for that. That’s a good read but I don’t think that business they talk about was SurvivalLife. I think it was simply a product they bought which then they integrated with SurvivalLife or it gave them the inspiration for SurvivalLife. I could be wrong I don’t know the ins and outs of it.

Add salt to your emergency kit if you haven’t already, as this mineral is an essential to human life. The body does not produce salt, but it needs it for survival. Salt is necessary for correct nerve transmission as well as sweat, blood, and digestive uses. Let’s take a quick look at why salt is something you definitely want in a survival situation.

Find food: You can survive up to three weeks without food, but a growling stomach will set in much sooner. These four items are always edible: grass, cattails, acorns, and pine needles. A simple rhyme can help you identify safe-to-eat berries: “White and yellow, kill a fellow. Purple and blue, good for you.”

I believe that human society is like a race. People are born athletes participating in a race, not physical but intellectual. Human life is just like a marathon race. Physical marathon race has a finishing line whereas intellectual marathon race will never end. Instead, human life has a direction or goal, and the goal is called “control…”. In this world, anything other than human is a thing (including animals). The ultimate desire for human is to exercise the greatest possible control over the other human and things around him. Control on human is “power”, and control on things is “wealth”. Power is measured by positions and ranks whereas wealth is measured by money terms. With the control on human comes indirectly some control on things, such as politicians using their power to gain materialistic benefits. Likewise, with the control over things comes indirectly some control over human, such as rich people hiring other people to work for and serve them. Politicians also have direct control over things, such as government-owned enterprises and assets. Nevertheless, this kind of control is not absolute and politicians cannot blatantly take the things under control as their own assets. On the contrary, the assets of a capitalist are entirely privately owned and the capitalist has absolute control over them.

In survival and SHTF situations, you’ll want to make sure to defend yourself and your family against both other people and animals. There are a variety of ways which you can do this, although of course some work better than others. Certainly look into attaining a firearm if this is legally permissible in your locality, and if you ever consider you may like to have it as a backup option. If you are interested in firearms, make sure to learn about them and train with them prior to an emergency situation. You can’t expect to be good with a firearm your first time shooting.

NOTE — A micro torch relies on fuel; when your fuel runs out, you have no more flame. You need back-up fuel (butane in this case) if you want several month’s use in an extended survival situation. One thing to note: A canister of butane is cheap and just one can go a long ways and is also easy to use). Consider both back-up butane and even a back up torch in case of rare equipment failure (or to even use as a bartering item; there’s a good chance someone else is going to want one after they see how easy it is to start a fire).

Well now it’s October 22nd, and I haven’t received any of those items. I ordered the Hoffman Richter EDC tool and received it within 2 weeks also, but this was also about a $5-$6 purchase.
It doesn’t even have to be extreme cold, but if you carry them on your body or put them next to your body for a short period of time they will warm enough to be quite usable. I don’t think Ryan bought Survival Life. Not from what I’ve read anyway. Ryan and his team set out criteria for a niche they wanted to get involved with (passionate, spends money, lots of retailers and affiliates, easy to find target audience etc) and survival / prepping ticked all the boxes so they created a site on it.

Sure, you could cook up your pot of survival stew over the campfire like a caveman, but come on folks. We’ve put people into space! Don’t you think it’s time we use space-age technology to make outdoor cooking easier? Jetboil is the Cadillac of camp stoves. It’s super quick to boil, lightweight, and very well engineered. The blended fuel can burn well, even in extreme cold, and the best part is, this stove is very thrifty with fuel use. You may be able to cook dozens of meals on the smallest size of fuel canister. These stoves are very efficient, easy to operate, and clean. The gear even nests for compact storage.

Since age, disease, bad roads, steep hikes and bad habits have pretty much ravaged my body over the years, I perked up when I learned that the bracelet could make me feel better. However, I’m partial toward western medicine and scientific evidence, so I was skeptical of the miraculous claims. I made phone calls: to Sacramento, to Buffalo, to Phoenix, to Florida. The more phone calls I made to find out how these bracelets are supposed to work, the less I knew.

Some survivalists will, no doubt, want to stay as far away from these items as possible, as most of them will over time become useless in a state of complete apocalyptic devastation. That being said, for short-term prepping emergencies, at the very least, these items are likely to come in quite handy, especially in our power/electricity driven world of today.

We all run into pain, misfortunes, challenges, obstacles, stress, insults, unhappiness but dig into yourself and climb out of the dark hole any way you can. Things do change. Lifeboat survival kits are stowed in inflatable or rigid lifeboats or life rafts; the contents of these kits are mandated by coast guard or maritime regulations. These kits provide basic survival tools and supplies to enable passengers to survive until they are rescued. In addition to relying on lifeboat survival kits, many mariners will assemble a “ditch bag” or “abandon ship bag” containing additional survival supplies. You list a saw as an item/tool for the Leatherman Wingman Multi Tool under the Top 10 Multi Purpose Survival Tools. As far as I can tell, the Wingman does not come equipped with a saw. The next comparable model with a saw would be the Sidekick.

But that wasn’t good enough for the Florida based Survival Straps company, who have devised a way to sweeten the deal, and provide you with something the competition and the homemade bracelets don’t deliver — a brand new replacement in the event that you use the Survival Strap in an emergency. That’s right, use their bracelet to get out of a jam; send in the story with 5 bucks for shipping; and they’ll send you a replacement Survival Strap.
– You mention a lighter, some sort of wind proof thing. They are cool, but they also take a special fluid to use, so you would have to carry that along on a forced hike, where as a standard old Bic will be good enough AND if the fluid does run out, you still have a bunch of sparks left from the flint in it. When I have people come to my bushcraft classes, they bring the strangest stuff, iron strikers and flint, bow drills… I break out my 59 cent Bic (in cammo though) and light my fire in about 10 seconds….
The first line item. More than one source. Energy is energy. It does not go away. Gas in your car is burned making you go. Solar rays, can be used to generator electricity and/or to generate heat. So, a system that captures heat. Can turn the heat into steam, the steam into a motor- which spins a generator. Vice a solar panel into electricity. Sources can be the City generator electrical power (or steam etc). Diesel motors can be modified or purchased to run on more than one type of fuel. Take a piece of the ribbon and tie it with a knot at the bitter end. Now, twist the skin to create a powerful thread. Use the other piece and wrap it on top of the first string. Repeat with a third string. Make a few these mini strings.

In February, I’m going to start a Patreon — kinda a subscription/club thingy for friends and fans where I can give away cover songs, demos, videos, skits and random fun stuff for as low as $1 or $2/month. Don’t worry, I won’t be getting all salesy on you about joining! I completely understand that not everybody can (or even wants to) participate. But I AM wondering, from those of you who may be interested, what kinds of exclusive reward type stuff would you want?

We know there is a TON of crap out there about survival and prepping. We can’t help it to be surprised by the astonishing amount of B.S. crappy info, put out there by self proclaimed, so called “experts” that either push you to buy their gear and tools or send you in a wild goose-chase with no real world practical application. Think about it, chances are that most of the REAL expert suck at marketing and don’t really know how to get their actual good info out into the world.

Most of us have heard of vital signs or checking vitals at one point or another, and these are the go-to indicators that are used to assess basic functions of the body that are essential for our survival.  They cover heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and temperature, and they normally fall within a specific range …

Rawles is the Senior Editor of SurvivalBlog.com, a blog on survival and preparedness topics.[19] It has been described as the guiding light of the prepper movement[20] and the grandaddy of survival blogs.[21] He concentrates on encouraging family preparedness for many possible threats toward society.[22] In his various writings, Rawles has warned about socio-economic collapse,[23][24] pandemics,[25] X-class solar flares taking down power grids,[26] terrorist attacks,[27] and food shortages.

But to quote the wise men who have walked this fair earth in ages past, questionable advice is technically better than no advice—so here are ten unusual survival tips that could end up saving your life. And as a disclaimer, don’t actually try number three.

If you need the help of a compass but you don’t have one, you can use an analog watch to do that. Point the hour (short) hand at the sun and draw two imaginary lines between it and the 12 o’clock point. You will create an angle between the two lines. Draw an imaginary straight line bisecting the angle. The line point away from the sun is north, because the sun always goes to set in the west direction.

• My next tip maybe common sense to some, but figured it’s still worth noting: for better maintenance of keeping balance, it’s best to keep heavier things on top and the lighter items at the bottom. What this will do is help you with stability while you are on the move.

WHAT IS COURAGE? In the Parkland high school shooting in South Florida, just a few miles from my home, we saw the extremes of human fortitude in the persons of Coach Aaron Feis and Deputy Scot Peterson. Peterson, a trained security professional, stay…

Photo by mr.smashyContingencies in the wilderness abound, so it is important to plan for as many as possible. A compass will help you find your way; even better is a handheld GPS device. Flashlights and glow sticks help you find your way in the dark, and a flare gun will assist others in finding you during an emergency. For setting up camp, Paracord or rope, a tarp, duct tape, and cable ties are indispensable. Also vital is a good multi-tool, folding shovel, and gloves. Include waterproof matches, lighter, and fire starting kit; redundancy is a good thing in this instance. In a small tin, pack fishhooks and line, razor blades, sewing needles and thread, safety pins, nails, a small magnet, and some cash.

Time-varying covariates. Some variables, such as gender and treatment group, generally stay the same in a clinical trial. Other clinical variables, such as serum protein levels or dose of concomitant medications may change over the course of a study. Cox models may be extended for such time-varying covariates.

Even after the fire had died, the rocks will still hold on to enough heat to keep you warm. The heat of the rock can also be used to purify water. Simply place them inside aluminium cans filled with water. It will cause the water to boil, purifying it enough to be safe to drink.

Powerful eruptions at a volcano in southern Japan spewed ash thousands of feet into the air on Wednesday as authorities warned locals not to approach the mountain. Shinmoedake volcano has erupted several times in violent explosions recently.

Here ya go folks, whether you know nothing or very little about survival. And or you just don’t have the time and money to buy and read a how-to survival book from cover-to-cover. Better to know a few good survival skills than not to know any at all. Wouldn’t you agree? You betcha, now read on. .

A vertical drop indicates an event. In the aml table shown above, two subjects had events at 5 weeks, two had events at 8 weeks, one had an event at 9 weeks, and so on. These events at 5 weeks, 8 weeks and so on are indicated by the vertical drops in the KM plot at those time points.

Caves can be great, but be sure the cave is not already occupied by bears, large cats, snakes or other unfriendly animals; they know caves are good too, and they’ve been looking for good shelter for longer than you have.

Having too much light from your flashlight could be dangerous at night depending on your situation. Placing a masking tape over the light will lessen the amount of light enough to give you a low profile while giving you enough to be able to work with.

We generally encounter right-censored data. Left-censored data can occur when a person’s survival time becomes incomplete on the left side of the follow-up period for the person. For example, in an epidemiological example, we may monitor a patient for an infectious disorder starting from the time when he or she is tested positive for the infection. Although we may know the right-hand side of the duration of interest, we may never know the exact time of exposure to the infectious agent.[5]

One of the things a person will learn in U.S. Special Forces survival training is that squirrels, rabbits, and other small mammals can make a quick meal. In the wilderness, all you need to know is how to read the ground around you and recognize areas that small mammals are likely to travel. Then set up a number of small, simple traps around the area (dead falls, snares, etc) and simply wait for traps to spring.

Survival Zombie Apocalypse: For camping or a kit, always carry a pencil sharpener in your bag or survival kit. It can be used to sharpen sticks for use in arrows or gigs, and the shavings make an excellent tinder for fire starting.

According to NASA, planet Earth is set for a terrifying close encounter with a hazardous monster asteroid the size of Buckingham Palace tomorrow. The size of this asteroid is still in question, but it won’t matter if it hits the Earth.

An SOS signal is the universal call for help. You can cause the signal using the light as well as sound. The message consists of three dots followed by three dashes followed by three dots. If you’re using light, an SOS signal would be three short bursts of light followed by three long bursts followed by three more short bursts. The same logic applies if you are using sound. Make sure that you practice the signal before you need to use it.

Enter the solar still, an easy-to-make contraption that uses a or a piece of plastic to collect evaporated water from dirt. All you need to do is dig a hole in direct sunlight and drape your tarp over the opening. Secure the edges with logs, rocks, boxes of tampons—anything you have lying around. Then—and this is important—place a little pebble right in the middle of the tarp, so it pulls the plastic down into an upside-down pinnacle.

From the definition of Λ ( t ) {\displaystyle \Lambda (t)} , we see that it increases without bound as t tends to infinity (assuming that S(t) tends to zero). This implies that λ ( t ) {\displaystyle \lambda (t)} must not decrease too quickly, since, by definition, the cumulative hazard has to diverge. For example, exp ⁡ ( − t ) {\displaystyle \exp(-t)} is not the hazard function of any survival distribution, because its integral converges to 1.

Add water to the top layer of fine sand. As water percolates through the fine sand, then through the charcoal, the coarse sand, and the gravel, it will get filtered. Collect the water coming out through the openings you created.

I have purchased several knives from survival life. The first knife I got, someone liked it better than I did and I was not a happy camper. I have given the knives to coworkers and each person likes them as much as I do! They are very sturdy, and well made. The smaller multi-tool is a great little get me out of trouble helper. The fire starters are going to be some stocking stuffers. The fire and fishing grenades are also neat. I will continue to purchase them when offered, even when the wife says that I have too many knives and toys.

Choosing the location – ideally, you want to build a fire on elevated grounds, such as a peak, top of a hill or ridge.  Clear the area so that the fire will not catch onto nearby twigs/other flammables. If it’s too difficult to clear the area of debris, then the next best option is to isolate the fire with stones to control the fire.

Cell Phones: While cell phones are still not 100 percent reliable in the backcountry, service coverage and the usefulness of smartphones has increased dramatically in the last seven years. While cell phones are still questionably reliable in the backcountry, many adventurers will carry them anyway as they also serve as light cameras and can help with GPS and electronic compass navigation. Today, most of them also work as a flashlight. Regardless, they are worthless if the battery is dead, so plan accordingly.

Admonition – from a guy who represented a major water company. Two liter pop bottles are cheap because they are not designed to be on the shelf or stored for a long period of time. Buy the correct container although it costs more money. Do not use 5 gallon plastic recycled water containers. Chemicals that have migrated into the plastic can not be removed by washing. Use paint buckets with a “2” rating on the bottom that are new. They are rated as food grade. Not as good as the more expensive specific blue water containers, but they will be ok on a budget.
In the great outdoors, the elements increase your chance of obtaining an injury. In case of an open wound, use a section of your bracelet as a tourniquet and strap it on the wrist or leg of the injured person to control severe bleeding.

I used to think that - in an ideal situation - I 100% wanted to rotate through every single item in my prepper food … Dehydration is no joke. Whether hiking the Grand Canyon or spending another day at the office, staying hydrated is essential to health. The human body is at least two-thirds water, and once its liquid content is reduced, bad things start to happen. Let’s review mild to serious effects of dehydration to help your water intake efforts. The p-value for all three overall tests (likelihood, Wald, and score) are significant, indicating that the model is significant. The p-value for log(thick) is 6.9e-07, with a hazard ratio HR = exp(coef) = 2.18, indicating a strong relationship between the thickness of the tumor and increased risk of death. Duct tape is one of the simplest pieces of the tool in my survival kit. It may seem a simple thing, but it has helped me in many tricky situations. I never leave for a hike or a camp without it in my backpack. If those questioning the media’s “official narrative” of the events of the Florida school shooting needed any more evidence that they are on the right track, they’ve just gotten it.  YouTube and Twitter are now scrubbing users who dare to question the student’s demanding gun control and the media’s account of the school shooting. The work I loved so much became a 24 hour living hell and when I couldn’t stand it anymore I decided to find another job. As soon as I made that choice I was free and exhilarated! It was time to get out and move on.

THIN, LIGHTWEIGHT, COMFORTABLE – just two credit cards thick, our unique survival knife is great for survivalists, preppers and people with active lifestyles. It also fits comfortable in a wallet, purse, bug out bag or your pocket.

Round 75 ends on March 31st, so get busy writing and e-mail us your entry. Remember that there is a 1,500-word minimum, and that articles on practical “how to” skills for survival have an advantage in the judging.

From survivalism to self defense, in case of an emergency or imminent threat, having the tools and skills needed to protect and keep yourself and your family safe, can be the difference between perishing and surviving.

Let’s face it: This is a survival knife for a worst case scenario and you find yourself living in a lawless land and need a serious knife for self defense. The US Marine KA-BAR is designed for combat — and proven in combat — and carried by many U.S. Marines into past wars. Please note: This isn’t a survival knife for a weekend recreationist; a forest service official or fish and game warden will possibly confiscate it if they know you’re carrying it, so be sure to check local laws before simply packing one into the wilderness on your next backpacking trip. The good news about carrying this for a worst case survival scenario? Not only is it a knife proven in combat but something you can also use to gut big game or filet a squirrel, possum, trout, salmon or any other critter that you’re willing to eat to survive. (If this KA-BAR is a bit too military for your tastes go with a good folding knife like this Kershaw as a more civilian option and one you might buy for your teen kids as well.)

Donation time!! I’m pretttttty late on this one, but I finally donated my most recent $$ from the “Trust No One” TB release. This time to the San Antonio Food Bank. Yay! Apparently, a $1 donation = 7 meals, so this will equal… 637 meals to people in need. 😎

Forti’s kit of choice is a bit larger and bulkier, but not overbearingly so. It can be worn on a belt in a pouch and includes enough gear to make a longer “unplanned wilderness excursion” survivable with some modicum of basic comfort.

Plan, plan and plan! If you are going on proposed expedition, spend more time preparing it. Make sure that you play each possible scenario in your head before setting out. I know that a 100% prepared adventure is no adventure, but still, planning it makes it much safer. And that is what you want, right?

I’ve been waiting almost 30 days now on 4 different orders, about 10 days on another order, and have only recieved 2 orders out of the orders I have placed. They say the items are on back order, but they still send emails every day trying to sell the same items they say are on backorder. I’m completely disappointed in Survival Life; their shipping is downright awful and just a slap to the face. Do they not want your repeated business?

There is an email address, [email protected], available for customers who need to issue a comment or complaint, as well as a traditional mailing address of 4330 Gaines Ranch Rd., Suite 120 Austin TX, 78735 and a phone number of 512-366-3332.

NOTE: One of the biggest hurdles in starting a fire is finding the right kind of kindling. If you can make a kindling that can catch fire quickly, you have half of your work cut out. One of the best fuel that you can make is a char cloth.

I can appreciate the flexibility of the Sawyer system, nice tip about the gravity fed filter hack! I really do like the Lifestraw for casual rambling in the wilderness based on size and weight (check out my review). Thankfully in Canada fresh water is never really an issue! 😉

JWR is a journalist, technical writer, and novelist. His survivalist novel Patriots: Surviving the Coming Collapse, is a modern classic that reached #3 on the New York Times bestsellers list. Two of his other novels have also been best New York Times bestsellers.

When you get to a water source, you’ll want to filter it, purify it and put some in a bottle. Because you rarely know how far the next water source is and a water bottle keeps you hydrated between sources.

The Cox model assumes that the hazards are proportional. The proportional hazard assumption may be tested using the R function cox.zph(). A p-value is less than 0.05 indicates that the hazards are not proportional. For the melanoma data, p=0.222, indicating that the hazards are, at least approximately, proportional. Additional tests and graphs for examining a Cox model are described in the textbooks cited.

Sling-Shot-Bow: Oh boy, are some of you guys & gals gonna love this survival weapon. Instead of trying to make one of those tree branch slingshots or a bow & arrow out of some tree sapplings, make one of these weapons instead. This way you can use it to launch both, arrows and rocks. All you need is two (2) 1/2 inch long screw eyelets, some thick rubberbands, a piece of duct tape and a knife. And believe it or not, this sling-shot-bow is hellova lot easier to make, aim, shoot and hit your target than a damn slingshot or bow & arrow. Take a look below and you should be able to figure out how to make this survival weapon. Note: This weapon can be made out of any type of wood, not just bamboo.

So what if you don’t know how to fish, or don’t have any gear? All you need is a shirt and enough saliva to spit. Spit fishing is a quick way to catch minnows and small fish, which can then either be cooked up into a crunchy goulash or used as bait to catch bigger fish. All you do is wade out into the water, lift the front of your shirt to improvise a net under the water’s surface, and spit. Minnows are attracted to the spit—they think it’s food—and when they’re clustered in front of you, jerk your shirt up out of the water.

If you need to cross a powerful river, Bear recommends anticipating where you think you’ll be spat out on the other side then giving yourself an extra 25% for safe measure. You can then use a backpack liner, an excellent flotation device, to help you on your way to the other side.

With proper positioning, the water will be trapped in a way that you can simple poke a hole through the bag so that the water flows through. You can then keep the water in a container. Note: Make sure your plastic bags are clean.

Well, folks, here we are again, another week of prepping and another week closer to TEOTWAWKI. But, before, we get started with this weeks what did you do to prep this week I’d like to point you to … Continue Reading about What did you do to prep this week?

As some of you may know, Cape Town is running out of water. The local government has quite literally stated that in less than 100 days, they may have to turn off the taps entirely and water will be rationed out at designated outposts. Here’s…

Please support liberty-minded and fiscally conservative candidates. If you feel convicted to do so, then run for office. I encourage Redoubters to get involved politically at the city, county, party precinct, and state levels. This is truly a grassroots movement. I encourage you to become a solid root in the sturdy sod of the American Redoubt!

Please contact your congressman, and encourage him (or her) to make “Poison Pill” amendments to any “gun control” law packages, as they make their way through congress. By adding legislation that Democrats can’t stomach, it is almost certain to cause a bill to  fail, in its final vote. In particular, please ask your congressman to add four pieces of legislation:  A.) A bill that would authorize all school teachers and administrators to be armed on campus, B.) The Hearing Protection Act, that would legalize un-taxed suppressors (“silencers”), C. National Reciprocity for Concealed Carry, and D.)  Either a complete overturn of the Hughes Amendment or a six-month amnesty on machinegun registrations.

Those who get offended by you promoting something even though you’re giving them a ton of value upfront and for ‘free’ (it’s not really ‘free’ to create content, takes up a lot of time, effort and sometimes money) are probably not the sort of people you want as your audience anyway.
