Bring survival gear. Basic survival tools such as a knife, a fire steel (metal match), some matches (in a waterproof canister), some cord (550 paracord is best), a whistle, a space blanket, a signaling mirror, water purifying tablets, and a compass can mean the difference between life and death. Even if you are only out on a day hike, be sure to bring the essentials.

Find everything you need to prevent an emergency from becoming a crisis. Crab apples, for instance, have healing properties in their raw form. They possess astringents that can be rubbed across cuts and lacerations, causing the wounds to tighten and heal faster. Pine resin, on the other hand, are great antiseptics. They can be used topically on wounds or gargled to clean the mouth. They’re usually found in solidified form within the tree, but you have to melt them first before using. If found fresh and still gooey, you can apply the substance immediately.

But that’s not all you can do with a tampon. The cotton makes perfect tinder for starting a fire. Stuff the cotton into the plastic tube to make a filter straw for drinking sediment-heavy water. Use the string to tie a puff of cotton to the end of a wooden skewer—and now you have a dart for your blowgun. At the very least, the absorbent cotton makes an effective bandage for cuts and scrapes. Perhaps you should make room for tampons in your survival kit.

Once one arrives in the United States, there can be a baffling array of tasks to be accomplished, such as obtaining a social security number or a driver’s license. Signposts to Living in the U.S. provides the appropriate direction. Arriving in a foreign country with no credit history can also be problematic. Credit history from one’s home country is not considered, and banks are reluctant to offer credit cards. Yet, some landlords and utility companies require a credit history, which can only be established with a credit card. To help with this potential catch-22, the guide contains advice and options for more easily obtaining a credit card and building a credit history in So, Nobody Will Give You a Credit Card?.

If you can’t believe in God, one thing is sure – you are given limited time to live on this planet, too little to solve how life and everything were created. You received a chance to live. Are you glad? Do you know how to use your time?

Almost all websites that generate over 1 million a month have clear business models where it’s obvious to see how they are generating their levels of income, especially if they are releasing data on their traffic and registered users. There shouldn’t be a question of only his bank knows how much he’s really making when you are at this level of revenue. A quick google search of survivallife did not bring me any forbes articles or legit websites praising them, all I found was articles questioning them, like I am now.

Advertising – companies paying money to advertise. A sign of a healthy market if people are willing to spend to gain customers. Influential People & Big – well known people in the niche, big brands, niche stores with lots of followers, big name bloggers, people with huge social media followers and so on.

– Mora knives are spectacular – look at them, in the event that you can’t find one, check out a local bait/tackle shop, chances are there is a knife just like it there – same sheath and all (I just found this out after owning a tom of Moras, and the steel is just as good, with a slightly thicker blade..)

As much as you love hiking, it is doubtful you love the resulting blisters. If you cannot seem to win the blister war no matter how broken-in your hiking boots are, don’t fret. Each branch in the tree indicates a split on the value of a variable. For example, the root of the tree splits subjects with grade < 2.5 versus subjects with grade 2.5 or greater. The terminal nodes indicate the number of subjects in the node, the number of subjects who have events, and the relative event rate compared to the root. In the node on the far left, the values 1/33 indicate that 1 of the 33 subjects in the node had an event, and that the relative event rate is 0.122. In the node on the far right bottom, the values 11/15 indicate that 11 of 15 subjects in the node had an event, and the relative event rate is 2.7. Rawles is an outspoken proponent of family preparedness, especially regarding food storage[64] and advocates relocating to lightly populated rural retreat areas. His preparedness philosophy emphasizes the fragility of modern society, the value of silver and other tangibles for barter, recognition of moral absolutes, being well-armed, maintaining a deep larder, relocation to rural retreats, and Christian charity.[65] In an interview in The New York Times, Rawles identified himself as a guns and groceries survivalist.[66]

There are people in this world, such as monks and missionaries, who may not appear greedy and lack the desire to control other people or things. It is only because these people believe in an afterlife. They sacrifice the present life for the sake of the future life in heaven. What is heaven? In my view, it is the place with indefinite control. Therefore, these people still want control in the end. They want to control their life to come because they believe in it. People that have more control over other people are called politicians. People that have more control over things are called capitalists and people that have more control over knowledge are called scientists. All these people are the forerunners at the intellectual marathon race.

Now just like most Johnny Rambo Wannabes, in my early dumb & naive military days I, too, use to pack & carry one of those super-duper wrist rocket slingshots to the field too. Too much of either one can be harmful, if not fatal to your body. If you’re dehydrated, do not eat anything until you’ve had water because the food will only absorb the remaining water in your body and cause you to be dehydrated even more. Drinking too much water can also mess up your metabolism and cause lots of complications long term. Always make sure you have enough of both food and water.

I am sorry to say this but your tent is worthless. A true survivalist would have a 4 season tent. One used on expeditions to alaska or antartic summer. You have to survivor a winter in Minnisota, Michigan, Maine or other very cold area. Most tents bought at stores like walmart will only last one or two years of constant use. So unless you have put out big bucks for a UV protected tent and stove heater, your dead in winter.

If you with tarp, buy yourself three or four measuring 10×12 or a bit larger. With a few tarps you can build yourself a small shelter that is sealed and insect proof, nearly as well as a tent. If you don’t have a lighter or any matches, you will have to start the fire by hand. If you find enough tinder (small material, such as dry grass, feathers or bark shavings, that burns easily) you can usually use the energy from the sun to start a fire with a magnifying glass, a lens from your glasses, a piece of broken glass, a cover to a watch or compass, or other clear, light-intensifying objects. It is very difficult to start a fire by friction; your best bet is to carry a variety of fire-starting implements.

A miniature flashlight can be carried on you for use in any emergency or other required need. This Streamlight 73001 can be carried on a keychain, backpack or even a belt loop on your pants or a zipper on your jacket and there when you need it. It’s an extremely small flashlight with an LED light — meaning lots of run time — using small button cell batteries (and during a long term emergency, carrying an excess of these tiny batteries will not take up much space and only weigh a few ounces, if that.)

I don’t think Ryan bought Survival Life. Not from what I’ve read anyway. Ryan and his team set out criteria for a niche they wanted to get involved with (passionate, spends money, lots of retailers and affiliates, easy to find target audience etc) and survival / prepping ticked all the boxes so they created a site on it.

Avoid eating mushrooms or berries you can’t recognise, no matter how hungry you are. It’s better to be hungry than to eat something poisonous. Many berries in the forest, especially white berries, are poisonous – and a great deal of even edible mushrooms need to be cooked first.

It may get you out of danger on more than one occasion.

eBay determines trending price through a machine learned model of the product’s sale prices within the last 90 days. New refers to a brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item, and Used refers to an item that has been used previously.

Ah – I must’ve missed that part, my apologies. 1 million in SALES is definitely viable, if they are selling/promoting expensive products. You will already see a tent shape. You can reinforce this tent skeleton by propping some more sticks to support the longer stick. Now, cover the tent with branches of trees and leaves to make a comfortable shelter.

See it through your kids’ eyes. In 2014, actress Gwyneth Paltrow popularized conscious uncoupling as a byword for a positive, amicable divorce. Survivors: A Novel of the Coming Collapse is a contemporaneous sequel novel that parallels the events that occur in Patriots, following a hyperinflationary socioeconomic collapse and the subsequent events known as The Crunch. The novel follows several new characters (and some characters from Patriots) as they attempt to survive in the United States following The Crunch as they deal with criminal gangs, a provisional American government, and the general breakdown of society. The book was released on 4 October 2011. It rose to #2 in Amazon’s overall book sales ranks, the same day. On 23 October 2011, it was listed at #3 in the New York Times Best Sellers list in the fiction hardback category.[3] Less than a month after publication, the novel had gone through four printings and had 52,500 copies in print.[39] A Spanish edition (titled Superviventes), was released in 2014.

Losing your direction without a compass can be a deadly mistake, and nature is not a forgiving beast. If you’re willing to wait a whole day, you can figure out west and east by the direction of the setting sun; but without food and water, time is a luxury you might not have. That’s why getting an accurate compass bearing is crucial, and you can do it easily with a simple analog watch.

Reaching for a multi-tool is as easy as simply finding one with pliers, and a Phillips screw driver, right? Actually that’s wrong. A Phillips screw driver might come in handy on several occasions but there are a lot more screw head types that call for special fittings. These special fittings can quickly take parts off vehicles, remove hardware around locking mechanisms, and remove ventilation coverings. A good multi-tool is essential to urban survival, is made of stainless steel, and can withstand years’ of use. If you’re going to be anywhere near an urban environment, look, at the Swiss Tool Spirit Plus. Here’s a multi-tool with 38 functions, including a bit wrench with 6 bits (important for screw heads that a Phillips or standard screwdriver will not fit).

The Cox model assumes that the hazards are proportional. The proportional hazard assumption may be tested using the R function cox.zph(). A p-value is less than 0.05 indicates that the hazards are not proportional. For the melanoma data, p=0.222, indicating that the hazards are, at least approximately, proportional. Additional tests and graphs for examining a Cox model are described in the textbooks cited.

By contrast, the p-value for sex is now p=0.088. The hazard ratio HR = exp(coef) = 1.58, with a 95% interval of 0.934 to 2.68. Because the confidence interval for HR includes 1, these results indicate that sex makes a smaller contribution to the difference in the HR after controlling for the thickness of the tumor, and only trend toward significance. Examination of graphs of log(thickness) by sex and a t-test of log(thickness) by sex both indicate that there is a significant difference between men and women in the thickness of the tumor when they first see the clinician.

The hazard function, conventionally denoted λ {\displaystyle \lambda } , is defined as the event rate at time t conditional on survival until time t or later (that is, T ≥ t). Suppose that an item has survived for a time t and we desire the probability that it will not survive for an additional time dt:

I love the story of the man, lost in the woods, who freaked out and began running, desperately looking for a way out. I believe that human society is like a race. People are born athletes participating in a race, not physical but intellectual. Human life is just like a marathon race. Physical marathon race has a finishing line whereas intellectual marathon race will never end. Instead, human life has a direction or goal, and the goal is called “control…”. In this world, anything other than human is a thing (including animals). The ultimate desire for human is to exercise the greatest possible control over the other human and things around him. Control on human is “power”, and control on things is “wealth”. Power is measured by positions and ranks whereas wealth is measured by money terms. With the control on human comes indirectly some control on things, such as politicians using their power to gain materialistic benefits. Likewise, with the control over things comes indirectly some control over human, such as rich people hiring other people to work for and serve them. Politicians also have direct control over things, such as government-owned enterprises and assets. Nevertheless, this kind of control is not absolute and politicians cannot blatantly take the things under control as their own assets. On the contrary, the assets of a capitalist are entirely privately owned and the capitalist has absolute control over them.

As an individual hunting & throwing knive, a throwing star and as a spear head when attached to a stick for hunting game or spearing fish. To make one of these all you have to do is buy a set of those cheapo metal throwing knives, drill a few holes, make a few groves on the handle(s) so when you go to wrap some paracord around it to attach it to a stick it will hold it in place and not slide off. And then add four (4) screws, washers and wing nuts to keep it together until you need to use it.

Once the system gets broken the entire functionality is lost. Humans are humans, no matter where you are. There is a lot of thugs that are tied only by very thin ropes of fear. Once the system gets those ties loose in some way…then you have a problem, as a citizen. A very big one.

“The Existentialist’s Survival Guide is a remarkable book. We can’t think of another writer who so thoroughly understands Kierkegaard and his followers, presents their thought more accessibly than they themselves did, and—crucially— relates them concretely to the dark places in his own life, and ours.” — Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klein, authors of Plato and a Platypus Walk Into A Bar, and Heidegger and a Hippo Walk Through Those Pearly Gates

I think having a satellite phone should be on this list. Once you buy one you can purchase emergency minutes that last for two years, then you re-up. The phone will last forever, and it guarantees you can make a call in any situation, and they aren’t as bulky as they once were. There is actually a device no bigger than my wallet that can turn your smart phone into the satellite phone….preparedness matters!!

Redundancy in the wilderness is your friends: always have extra knives, compasses, water gathering tools, and fire starting tools. Remember, surviving is all about making sure you have secured basic necessities to cook, stay warm, and self-defend.

Choosing the location – ideally, you want to build a fire on elevated grounds, such as a peak, top of a hill or ridge.  Clear the area so that the fire will not catch onto nearby twigs/other flammables. If it’s too difficult to clear the area of debris, then the next best option is to isolate the fire with stones to control the fire.

A survival kit is a package of basic tools and supplies prepared in advance as an aid to survival in an emergency. Civil and military aircraft, lifeboats, and spacecraft are equipped with survival kits.

Find safe food. Know that most healthy adults can survive up to three weeks without food unless it’s cold.[3] It’s better to be hungry and healthy than ill. Make sure that you know food is safe before eating it. If there is anything that will lessen your ability to survive, it is being both lost and deathly ill. Starvation won’t be a big problem.

The term survival kit may also refer to the larger, portable survival kits prepared by survivalists, called bug-out bags (BOBs), Personal Emergency Relocation Kits (PERKs) or get out of Dodge (GOOD) kits, which are packed into backpacks, or even duffel bags. These kits are designed specifically to be more easily carried by the individual in case alternate forms of transportation are unavailable or impossible to use.

At the DMV: Start online, where most states allow you to take care of basic services remotely or at least schedule an appointment. Avoid visits at the end of the month, when most driver’s licenses expire, and go before noon in the middle of the week.

This free has so much practical information that it goes beyond survival. It’s extremely useful for recreational camping and hiking also. It’s well written and very useful for the casual or hardcore outdoorsman. Hasn’t been updated in forever but it’s good enough as is.

Before you pick a campsite and start navigating through the natural world, it’s crucial to plan the perfect backpack full of the stuff you’ll need to survive. But “roughing it” doesn’t have to mean “suffering”. In this chapter, we’ll help you identify the essential tools, gadgets and clothing items that come in handy when living in the outdoors.

I didn’t see this invaluable item item on the list or in any comments thereafter so I’ll request a good ol’ 5ft x 7ft wool blanket. I’ve used mine to sit on around the camp fire and keep myself off the warmth sapping ground. Also great for keeping warm by the fire just wrapped up in. It won’t burn from sparks either which makes it invaluable for wrapping around your (probably lite weight and highly combustable) sleeping bag. Sheds moisture alright to keep any goose down bags from losing insulation. This is under the assumption that you are sleeping outdoors under nothing more than a tarp shelter until a proper basecamp and shelter can be established. Once a shelter is established (if you dont have / bring / or burned down your tent) the wool blanket also makes for a kickass door.

5. Emergency shelter: Adventure Medical Kits’ S.O.L. Thermal Bivvy ($29) is lightweight and compact. This waterproof thermal sack will help you retain your body heat and avoid skin exposure to cold air.

Things can get frustrating when it comes to finding adequate sources of food when you are in survival mode, especially since malnutrition will work you mentally and physically, making you feel weak, cranky and delirious. It’s a good idea to get familiar with edible wild berries and plants for future reference when out in the wild. Also, it’s time to grow up and banish the word  “picky” from your vocabulary. When it comes to survival, embrace anything and everything (carefully) including bugs, eggs, fruit, leaves. Learn to build some simple traps to catch small animals and don’t rely on just one single food source. Protein is important for strength; know what various nutrients your body needs for prime sustainability.

If those questioning the media’s “official narrative” of the events of the Florida school shooting needed any more evidence that they are on the right track, they’ve just gotten it.  YouTube and Twitter are now scrubbing users who dare to question the student’s demanding gun control and the media’s account of the school shooting.

A first aid kit is kind of a no-brainer, but you have to make sure you get yourself a good one. And this… this is a good one. In addition to all the usuals (bandages, scissors, etc.), this 100-piece kit also contains a compass, a poncho, a whistle, a CPR mask and a Mylar blanket. This isn’t just about first-aid. This is a full-on survival kit.

Rather than MRE’s, check out your local LDS/Mormon “Bishop’s Warehouse” for cans & Mylar bags of bulk and dehydrated foods. The cans are designed for 30+ year storage and the Mylar bags are perfect for hiking, camping, and survival. They are a lot cheaper than MRE’s. You can even buy some Mylar bags and make your own “meals in a bag” for even less money.

Storage: Batteries are the way most of us think of storing power. But, so is a Gas tank. or a Rural propane tank, a heat sink… (I’ll hit the sink and propane tanks again). Sometimes thinking out of the box can solve a real problem storing power. Storing Electricity used to be a huge one. Today we have very reliable large capacity batteries.
I ordered this, was in a but one, get one free deal. I received 1, small plastic magnifier. I replied, no reply. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING!!!! They are a real scam on the nwtwork!!! They do not tell the truth at all! I have asked them for something, with no reply, they are…
I read once where a water tower was used to store water. Alas, this homeowner was thinking out of the box. The location was very remote. And being frail he dreaded trying to carry heavy deep cycle batteries.
Please note how difficult it can be making a fire through traditional survival & bushcraft techniques like rubbing sticks together. While I wholeheartedly recommend you practice and aim to perfect these no-gear-needed fire-making skills, I also recommend you not depend solely on your ability to make a fire in this way if it’s at all possible. At least do your best to carry a fire steel on you as a backup, especially considering how hard it can be to light a fire in wet/humid conditions.

Wilderness survival sometimes calls for being found — that includes in a time of collapse as well. Perhaps you’ve put together a camp in a remote location. Whatever circumstances take place where you’re now cooperating with other people for survival, tasks related to hunting, scouting, and scavenging can mean you have to split off from the group at times.

You have a freedom to choose your own purpose, and this pressure to choose can be viewed also as burden. When you feel you must find your purpose, you can look at your mind from distance and be conscious about it.
Different people have different opinions but, mine is mirrored in the words of a renowned evolutionary biologist- Richard Dawkins,  life has no higher purpose than to perpetuate the survival of  DNA…life has no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but  blind pitiless indifference.
I would be terrified to have a BaoFeng radio is a crisis of survival. Spend money on a real survival radio like a Yaesu FT60r. Compare the radios and you’ll happily spend the extra money to buy the Yaesu.

CR123 batteries pack a lot of power in a small package, and the lithium ones have a shelf life of 10 years, which is why they’re up on the list. You can also purchase rechargeable ones (here, for example) that you can charge with your solar panel array. At the end of the day, 3.7 V will always be a lot more versatile than 1.2 V batteries because you can always lower current (make it dimmer), you can’t increase it (make it brighter). 900 lumens to the face is an extreme force multiplier.

As mentioned before, you can technically build your own shelter if you have the proper survival gear tools at hand. That being said, it’s always nice to get an upper hand on shelter, as it will also help you stay warm and dry in case of an emergency or survival situation.
A geothermal system is a very efficient power source, steam is nearly free. The piping and Generators are typical of Hydro, Nuclear and other Electrical power plants. Yet, in this case the customers paid high rates. Because of the design of the Electrical infrastructure. No surge and No storage. They had to install expensive turbine (gas jet engine) powered generators.
Most of the items on this list are must-have survival gear pieces. With the proper tools, you can typically make your own shelter in case you need to, or fix one that you already have. Good survival tools can also help you to gather wood for creating fire for heat and to cook with, which is why tools are the very first thing on our list.

They need to figure out a better plan to get things out and to their customers. This is going to cost them their business if they don’t do something different than their current shipping. Or maybe it’s in their warehouse and the workers just don’t work but are packaging one shipment a day. Goodluck if you make a purchase from them, I hope you get your item in a reasonable amount of time.

The P38 can openers, in my experience, are finicky and not as easy to use as the Swing-A-Way, but personal preference here. If I had to rely on a P38 or a the can opener on a swiss army knife for extended use I think I would go crazy!
Why would we carry gold? I can understand the importance of silver because it it $20 an ingot and can be used for trade and barter. Gold is a whopping $1,250 a coin, and no one in a SHTF crisis is going to have change for a purchase.
The bracelets are easy enough to make, according to Melissa Duke of Pleasant View, Tenn., who has gone into the paracord jewelry-making business full-time. Our number 6 goes out to Rourke’s Modern Survival Online, which aims to teach and inform the average person about how to prepare for difficult times ahead. With the understanding that not everyone has the funds to build and stock a “survival retreat”, Modern Survival Online’s hope is to help the every-day person become better prepared.

One of the best ways to catch the attention of the rescuers or to pass people is using the Universal wave. It is one of the simplest gestures to learn. I am sure you must have seen it in many movies. To do the wave, stand with your legs slightly apart and wave your arms like you would do when you are doing jumping jacks.

Don’t get me wrong; it is entirely understandable! However, if you want to get out of the situation, you must rely on sound judgment. If you are agitated, overly anxious or panicking, your brain will not think properly.

The first thing that you must tell yourself is to take a deep breath and try to control your anxiety and panic. In all likelihood, you are in a much less dangerous situation that you may believe at the moment. If you keep a cool head, you will soon start seeing ways to get out of the bind.

Regardless of what it looks like, a wilderness survival shelter should embrace these essential principles. It should provide insulation and protection from all elements. It should include a heart source, whether that is a fire, the sun, or trapping body heat. It should be placed in a good location – think high and dry. And lastly, it should offer comfort and sanctuary. After all, this will be your new home.

Well, it wasn’t long before I found out the hard way that I needed to pack & carry several extra sets of slingshot bands. Why? Because when one breaks you can’t repair’em by tying the two broken ends together, you have to replace the whole damn band. And if you don’t have a backup latex slingshot band, you’re screwed. That sucks!

You never know what’s inside a stream or river. It has all sorts of stuff that you probably don’t want in your system. Grab a sock and fill them with charcoal. Follow it up with a layer of sand and then finally a layer of grass. The grass will catch the large particles in the water while the sand will filter out the fine granules. The charcoal will purify the water of any harmful chemicals.

I’ll keep this one short and sweet. You never want to be forced to drink nasty water. We’re talking sewage filled, bacterial laden gross water that can make you sick. Talk about a bad survival situation…

The form of the pyre or the fire lay is critical especially if you are trying to light it in a wet environment. Make sure that the shape of the fire lay is as conical as possible. If your fire lay is flat and scattered, it is going to be put out by the rain quicker.

Even after the fire had died, the rocks will still hold on to enough heat to keep you warm. The heat of the rock can also be used to purify water. Simply place them inside aluminium cans filled with water. It will cause the water to boil, purifying it enough to be safe to drink.

If you wade through a cold river (rivers are common in many wilderness areas), or find yourself suddenly in the rain and need to get a fire going quickly — get this fire going using a micro torch. You can even cook, right from the torch.

I am a twice divorced middle-aged woman, a committed democrat, a sincere atheist, a successful product of public schools, and what you would likely call a coastal liberal elite. If you met me, you would probably ignore me, scoff under your breath, and label me as sheeple or a snowflake.

If you go with tarp, buy yourself three or four measuring 10×12 or a bit larger. With a few tarps you can build yourself a small shelter that is sealed and insect proof, nearly as well as a tent. With some duct tape (to tape tarp edges) or a heavy duty sewing needle and thread you can stitch together a shelter made of tarp in no time.

When it comes to items necessary for a prepper to include in his or her planning, lip balm isn’t typically one that comes to mind. Chapped lips are bad, but when you’re talking about surviving a major disaster, it’s an ailment most people could deal with.

We as humans have developed an unsettling dependence on technology for everything. Think about it, name a thing in your house that you can actually make from scratch. I bet you can’t! We live in a culture where we just buy things that we need. We are so coddled that a simple problem like a power outage leaves us in a frenzy.

Modern technology has made life a lot easier and we often take it for granted…until we’re caught in a situation where our gadgets fail us. Even though you probably won’t ever need to make a candle from cooking supplies or figure out how to keep produce cool without electricity, it’s good to know how to get along without the help of high-tech machinery. Check out the 26 wilderness and survival hacks below so you’re always be prepared.

For these reasons, I have (MOSTLY) excluded the MSK-1 from this List and Video.

I’m always on a tight budget, so yes, much of my kit recycled or repurposed. Always remember, you don’t have to go out and buy everything. Adapt, improvise, and overcome. The most beautiful trout I ever caught was caught on a fresh cut bit of bamboo about 4 feet long, dental floss, and improvised wooden fish hook with a beetle tied to it as bait. That beetle put up one hell of a fight. Dental floss is an excellent investment for bugging in or out. Besides the obvious use of dental hygeine, it’s very tough, cheap, compact and lightweight in it’s own little super convenient package, and can be used in any application where a bit of string would serve better than 550 cord/paracord. Can even be used to close wounds in a pinch, multiple strands can be braided together for applications requiring more tensile strength when 550 cord is unavailable, and can be woven into a net. I used some braided strands in Afghanistan as an improvised bootlace to serve my needs until I got back to my patrol base where my spare laces were stowed.

The basic american “that may have a job at this time” reading these blogs can feel overwhelmed by what these sites feel an individual or family may need to even begin to try to survive a few weeks if the “UNTHINKABLEHAPPENS”.

Staying warm in a cold or freezing wilderness can be a tough challenge. However, there are tips that you can use to make it easier. If you find yourself in a situation where the cold is getting the better of you, remember the following tips.

I am not saying that everyone must go through a military style survival training (although you totally could, if you like!), you must know some basic survival tips and tricks. These tips and tricks can be the difference between life and death. So, yeah, they are more important than knowing what happens in the next episode of your favorite show!

At the DMV: Start online, where most states allow you to take care of basic services remotely or at least schedule an appointment. Avoid visits at the end of the month, when most driver’s licenses expire, and go before noon in the middle of the week.

High power LED light (able to have batteries replaced, and carry an extra battery), white lens, with signaling capabilities. Strobe versions are available for some lights. Use lithium cells only, due to superior shelf life.

Another premade kit that knocked it out of the park. What a genius design! Who would have thought of outfitting a survival kit both inside and outside. Even better, there was a little room left over to add a couple of things on the inside. Although I enjoy putting Altoids survival tins myself, I couldn’t pass this one up. glad I didn’t.

This weekly post is an open-forum, though preferably focusing on what we all did this week for our prepping & preparedness. Comment and voice your thoughts, opinions, accomplishments, concerns, or questions for others on any general topic of preparedness. Lurkers? Let’s hear from you too!   For off topic …

An important application where interval-censored data arises is current status data, where an event T i {\displaystyle T_{i}} is known not to have occurred before an observation time and to have occurred before the next observation time.

I’m going to attempt to express how grateful I am to this amazing group of people. I’ve just gotten back from a 10-day tour with Lungs and Limbs, who contacted me at the end of July and asked if I’d be interested in traveling with them up to Oregon and Washington for some shows. All I had to do was hop in the bus (pictured) with a bunch of strangers and hope that they weren’t too creepy/inconsiderate/angry/mean/sketchy for me to handle for 10 days. Fortunately, they’re so much more awesome than I would have ever hoped for! Lungs and Limbs are a group of laid-back, friendly, funny, intelligent, talented people who are excellent conversationalists (bonus on those long drives). They took a chance on me as well, inviting me into their home on the road, and I’m so thankful that they did. This tour made me feel like I was back in my natural habitat: traveling the open road in a big ol’ vehicle with a group of friends who become like family. We stayed at truck stops in the bus, slept on floors, made a Crossfit gym our home for a few days (thanks, Travis!), played an outdoor show in the rain, drank lots of coffee and met lots of great and/or wacky people. I would do it again in a second, so hopefully we’ll figure out getting Survival Guide and Lungs and Limbs back on the road together sometime next year. Love you, L&L!! You’re the best! And all of your songs are stuck in my head on repeat. ❤️

Have an escape plan. The phrases “I won’t keep you” and “Give my regards to [mutual acquaintance]” are your allies. When the conversation reaches a dead end, employ them. Try these tips to make small talk from expert minglers.
