Scissors. Yes, they are on your multitool. No, they do not work! They really don’t work on the small tools except for the Leatherman Micra. Try it. Scissors are the reason I have sent three Gerber tools on a short brutal trip to the trash can. The test most fail first is to cut a 1 oz bag of Planters peanuts lengthwise. IMHO, the one in your first aid/ med kit should stay dedicated to that purpose. Get another for the other camp chores. They don’t have to be huge, but they do have to work.
The suggestions for the kit looks great, however I think you need to get your basics together first, fire making, shelter, first aid, food, and water, for at least 3 days, then weigh your kit. Now see how many pounds are left before you hit your maximum load which is going to vary for each person. Remember if your buggin out this isn’t a Saturday afternoon hike in the park where after three hours or so you thrown your pack in the car and go home. It’s going to be with you day in and day out.
Timeless carry piece for the gentleman. Never lose your lighter again with this EDC conversation starter and stopper. Made in the USA from a solid piece of 6061 Billet Aluminum. The Anvil holds a standard bic lighter on one end and offers a bottle opener and bit holder on the other end. Available in Red or Black. Lighter not included.
Looks great in the photo’s, but it is not what I received. Very disappointing and not as sturdy/durable as expected based on the photos. The photos show (2 of the 3 photos they have on the page) this great stainless steel buckle and heavy stainless steel screw (similar to what I have received on other high dollar Paracord Survival Bracelets) set to hold it firmly in place. The bracelet I received has a cheap nylon plug to hold it together (photo of what I received attached). I assume that will last a couple of weeks and will loosen up from daily outdoor wear and tear or snap off. The photos advertising it are no doubt false and not the product they ship. It’s an absolute shame that a company that markets this worthy cause uses misleading photos to sell their substandard product. I have been on Amazon many, many years and this is the worst item I have received to date based on what was shown versus what I received.

Hi, Well another week has gone by and I still did not receive my purchase. I think it has been lost during Christmas extra buzy time for the carriers. I really want and need the BATTERY FOR LIFE ITEM that I already paid for. Now we must make some kind of a deal, What would it cost me for you to ship me another one ? And if the first one ever comes in I will keep both and let you know whatever happens. This situation has to end . A refund is out of the question I want the product and if I end up with
In the great outdoors, the elements increase your chance of obtaining an injury. In case of an open wound, use a section of your bracelet as a tourniquet and strap it on the wrist or leg of the injured person to control severe bleeding.
With a bit of ingenuity you’ve built yourself a shelter that costs much less than a popular brand name tent and should be able to withstand more wear and tear and protect from rain and wind, even snow. In a time of collapse and evacuation, it also catches less attention than something bright blue or orange or yellow like a popular brand name tent.
I was curious to know how anybody can store radio waves in a bracelet (or anything else), but Walchle was unable to be much help. Very hush hush, he implied. The Department of Defense is testing this technology and the bracelets for military applications. Who in the DOD specifically? And where? He could not tell me because of security issues. “Maybe I can get a letter from them just acknowledging they’re looking into it,” he said.
Our Survival Belt is durably designed to last when used as intended, however, in the rare case something does go wrong we offer a one year warranty on this product. If you do not want to spend the night sleeping on a tree branch, you can make use of your 550 cord to quickly set up a shelter. Gather branches and long leaves and lash them together using a part of your bracelet. Having 15-20 feet of cord will insure that you do not have to worry about the size of your humble abode. You can reclaim the cord when morning comes and you are ready to move on.
At the push of a button, PLBs from companies like ACR Electronics Inc. transmit your position via GPS coordinates and the 406 MHz radio frequency to search-and-rescue centers, who may be able to then start a search process within minutes.

I’ve ordered several items from this company and have got exactly what I was promised. As some others have stated, the products were made in China but are what they promised. I feel I got a fair product for a fair price. I’ll watch for unexpected charges but have not had any so far. I’m happy with this company. And yes I would recommend them to friends. Also, I’ve order the HR30, the spy pen, the fire starter and a flash light and all came in good time and were decent products for what I paid.
FOR THE SMALL AMOUNT IT COST, I AM CERTAIN IT HAS GENERATED 10 TIMES THAT MUCH SUPPORT FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON THAT IS TO TAKE OF OUR VETERANS THAT HAVE SACRIFICED SO MUCH AND RECEIVED SO LITTLE IN RETURN.

We all experience hardships. Some people get through them with greater ease than others because of their attitude and choices. Their mindset propels them forward. They don’t let suffering run their lives and they work through the hard times, even when everything is falling down around them and they can’t seem to get a break.
“I originally envisioned this whole thing as a great outdoor product that’s stylish and can help you out in an emergency,” says Walchle, adding that most customers now seem to be buying the bracelets because they’re fashionable.

Survival pack, bug out bag, inch bag, backpack – all different names for basically the same piece of gear. A survival pack is a bag with straps so you can carry your survival gear on your back. That’s it.

Good old duct tape, where would the world be without it? Duct Tape can be used as an emergency bandage, to secure a splint, to reinforce or repair waterproofing, as a rope replacement for shelter building, and taped over sore spots to prevent blisters.
On cigarettes: the kinds in boxes wrapped in cellophane go stale fairly easily and quickly. Tobacco for cigarettes is sold in tin cans (size #5 I think) and often include rolling papers inside the can, but not filters. For many people, a non-filtered cigarette is better than no cigarette though. The tobacco stays fresher longer in a can (probably forever) and of course the can protects the tobacco better from the elements or from being squished than does cellophane.
If you’re stocking a cabin, cave, or bug-out spot with purification tablets, you certainly want to consider the lifespan of the product. The iodine tablets from Potable Aqua have an indefinite shelf life, when kept in their original packaging and stored properly; Katadyn’s Micropur tablets last for two years or more.
For Kurt Walchle, being prepared is a lifestyle. “I use paracord for everything — it’s like duct tape,” says Walchle, who founded Survival Straps, a company that hand-makes paracord bracelets that can be unravelled for emergency use.
In the event that you need to use the paracord, you can deploy it by hand with a few forceful tugs on the ends. If you have to use your Survival Strap in an emergency, the company will replace it for free (just send in your story and $5 for shipping).

It’s bad for the customer to order things and still not get them a month later. It’s just bad business and not how you want to treat a repeated customer. I mean, what do they do, wait until the end of the month and send an employee across the country to deliver packages to try and save money? Heck, I thought I was the one paying shipping, or at least that’s what my receipt says, so why take so damn long?
I LOVE it! My 4 Person Premium Survival Kit is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered! In these critical times, hard to deal with (2 Tim. 3:1-5), it is imperative to be prepared for whatever calamity may strike at any given time, and my kit helps me to do just that. I received ALL the items noted–including the flashlight lol–and there are PLENTY of supplies! As the description further notes, there is plenty of room for personal effects, i.e., medicine, food, clothing, etc. I also like the fact that each bag can assist TWO people–so if another person is in need, I can help them too. This kit is an EXAMPLE for other kits to follow.
Survival Power: Binoculars are never truly appreciated until a situation that calls for binoculars presents itself. Planning out what to eat after an emergency situation arises is one of the first things survivalists and preppers typically do.  Although stockpiling food is an excellent idea, it’s also great to have a plan for what happens if the emergency situation extends longer than a stockpile will last. Fishing and hunting outdoor gear, in this situation, will prove very valuable.

With periodic malfunctions in several store-bought compasses, including polarity issues, you want a compass you can count on. Learn proper care for a compass and how to protect polarity, as well as how it’s actually used in the field. Survival kits, in a variety of sizes, contain supplies tools to provide a survivor with basic shelter against the elements, help him or her to keep warm, meet basic health and first aid needs, provide food and water, signal to rescuers, and assist in finding the way back to help. Supplies in a survival kit normally contain a knife (often a Swiss army knife or a multi-tool), matches, tinder, first aid kit, bandana, fish hooks, sewing kit, and a flashlight.

Lifeboat survival kits are stowed in inflatable or rigid lifeboats or life rafts; the contents of these kits are mandated by coast guard or maritime regulations. These kits provide basic survival tools and supplies to enable passengers to survive until they are rescued. In addition to relying on lifeboat survival kits, many mariners will assemble a “ditch bag” or “abandon ship bag” containing additional survival supplies. Lifeboat survival kit items typically include:
Wes Baumann is a National Forest Service Trail Team member, a forest fire first responder, a search and rescue volunteer. Wes is also a native Oregonian and this past summer fought the Eagle Creek fire, near Hood River. He lives on his farm in Parkdale, OR with his fiancee and goats. He is an avid outdoorsman, passionate about Oregon and protecting her wilderness. Wes and Dave are partners in Mountain Savvy: a 20 year old avalanche school on Mt. Hood.
Any clue as to how much this would all weigh, should one have to carry the items on thier backs? This is a fairly large list, and some of the items could be this, OR this, OR this… A few things to add or coment about:
What about using the cord? Of course I had to tear one apart. I was hoping for a knife free teardown, but I did have to bring out the blade at the end of the 93 second unraveling process. The melted end of the cord wouldn’t fit through the hole in the shackle, so I had to clip off the swollen end of the cord. Upon cutting the end of the cord, the seven inner strands were plain to see. The most surprising part of the operation was the length of cord. I was expecting about five feet of paracord, but instead, I received just over 9 feet of cord. It’s amazing to think that so much cord was woven into such a little item. No wonder the Strap was initially stiff — it was stuffed to the gills.
I find the cross bow way to heavy for a bug out situation there are far lighter options available in a long bow you can even get them in a break down version. They do take more time to master but it makes a great hobby in good times and an invaluable skills in bad times.

A cautionary note about that pool shock: it is extremely hazardous (once opened)…it’ll eat through metals and (some) plastics and should be kept from moisture because that is what ‘activates’ it…wear gloves (the right kind), get an MSDS (manufacturer’s safety data sheet) from the internet and store it AWAY from your food supplies. If there are curious little ones in the vicinity, make sure you keep it locked up.
The good news is you have a lot of choices in survival lighters. You can go cheap with a standard BIC lighter, or you can go high-tech with a Tesla lighter. Or go with anything in-between like a zippo.
People use our straps for all different kinds of things. We’re about helping people, and we especially like to support our armed forces. So far, we’ve donated about $445,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project, and our goal is to get to $1 million by Christmas time. Our customers buy our care packages and send them overseas, and we usually match their donation so that all the guys in the unit can be outfitted with a Survival Strap. Overall, about 10 percent of our net is donated. We started the replacement program, because we would get letters from customers telling us that they were in a situation where they could have used their strap, but they loved it too much to destroy it, so we started the initiative that if you send us your story, we’ll send a new Survival Strap for free.

FireLaces are one of those pieces of gear you can wear every day. These are shoelaces with mini Ferro rods at the ends. Just loop the striker into the laces, and you’re shoes become a survival tool in their own right.
Interesting list, but I don’t see a knife sharpener. Lansky and Smith both make pocket size models for short term field use by those who can’t free hand a whet stone. Spyderco and Lansky also make systems more suitable for long term use. There are others as well, some quite pricy. Might be a good review topic.
A synthetic bag can keep a person warm in cold temperatures as well, but there’s a drawback — they weigh more, sometimes a few pounds more. If you don’t mind a couple extra pounds, then go with a synthetic bag like this Goretex modular system.
A bandana can be moistened and tied around the neck to help keep you cool, be used to filter water, will protect you from the sun, be used as a bandage, be utilized to tie on a splint, or be a replacement for rope in tasks such as shelter building.

Besides the wind, water is the next major vulnerability of stick matches. But neither wind nor water are a match (pun intended) for these amazing matches. I routinely display UCO Stormproof matches to my survival students, striking the large matches and then dunking the burning match in a bowl of water. To the surprise of my onlookers, the match bursts into flame again after being lifted from the water. These matches come in a bomb-proof watertight container with replacement striker strips and even a bit of cotton to keep the matches from rattling around, and to serve as emergency tinder.

In common words, the goal of human existence is to scramble for power and wealth.  Human society is just a stage for race, or competition. To the losers, competition is very cruel. Competition causes a lot of stress, so not everyone likes competition. If you give up, others, including your parents, will look down on you, and tell you that you are useless. Therefore, every one of us born in this society is forced to take part in the competition. Why is human society a stage for competition? Because human beings have needs. The first need is oxygen, and the needs for food, water, clothes, housing and transportation are followed. All these things are not free, have limited supply, except oxygen. Nobody can survive without food, water, clothes and house, so, people feel unsafe, and then they desire for all these. This desire is limitless. Even if someone has gathered enough wealth for the rest of his life, he still wants to collect more for his children, even his grandchildren. The result of limited resources plus limitless desires is competition.

Tips: Bring along an extra “stuff sack”, like you’d carry a sleeping bag in, and use it to carry your tarp shelter when it’s time to break camp and move to a new location. Roll up your tarp and then cinch it tight with paracord or rope. Have a few stakes with you to use as ground anchors for your tent.
Great article I found it well written and informative. With all of these types of scenarios every one has a different idea and they all help but in the end it will always be personal opinion that wins out
Tip: There is no guarantee you’ll be in an area prime for hunting — not unless you do your research first and know where to enter the wilderness so that your journey takes you through remote areas where game is plentiful.
